I'm well under way at almost ten years at Air Bed Pros and I specialize in Bed Parts for Sleep Number® beds!

"I do not work for Select Comfort® and I do not sell Sleep Number® beds, but I am the INVENTOR of the Patent Pending M236 Air Bed Leak Repair Hose for Sleep Number® beds!"

My Invention is the M236 Air Leak Repair Hose for Sleep Number® Bed pump and air chamber Air Systems Connection!

Here is my first draft, IT HAS BEEN ACCEPTED AND MARKED PATENT PENDING…….

1 M236 Air Leak Repair Hose

TECHNICAL FIELD

This invention relates to improved methods and apparatus for maintaining air pressure in one or more air containing structures. More particularly, the invention relates to improved air connections for the air pump and air chamber system for Sleep Number® Beds to stop air leaks that would prior to this invention render the parts unusable.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

More popular to the market, Sleep Number® Beds are a style of air beds with one or two air chambers / bladders that offer different settings for each sleeper have gained fame to offer each sleeper the ability to adjust the support level of air in the bladder on their side to achieve a support level of their own. Customers finding this joy in a mattress grow to love it until it has a air leak.

If the coupler adaptor cracks or the tubular cylindrical fitting with o-ring is damaged, the bladder is unusable, creating a common issue with cracked o-rings and air hose attachments have in the past caused a support chamber for a air bed to be unable to hold pressure. In particular, the o-ring that provides air tight seal for the pump and air bladder system can be compromised or break off. The beveled plastic portion of the cylindrical port attached to the bladder has no way of being removed, and reattached to provide a air tight seal. This air tight seal is what makes the bed able to be used, without a air tight seal, the pump and or air chambers / bladders can not regulate the air pressure to a given setting making the bed unusable.

After 7 years of thinking about this issue and not being able to find a solution, on April 23, 2013 I (Brandon Fry - AIRPRO @ AIRBEDPROS.COM - Invented a AIR BED LEAK REPAIR HOSE to repair this common, but perviously unfixable issue that was well known by the manufacturer.

It is called the M236 Air Chamber Repair Hose and when combined with the other items I have put together in this easy to use repair kit - F236 - Cap - Canvas Air Chamber Patch - people can now solve many issues with the Sleep Number® Beds support system.

The design upgrade required getting the air connection outside of the air chamber area to prevent future cracking from driving out. Having the fittings inside the zippered cover below the foam support rails would cause cracking due to pressure of the foam support rails and in some cases a base foam pad used to break pressure points below the air chamber causing counter pressure on the air hose connection, or the fitting being pulled out of the chamber from owners not knowing how to disconnect them causing expensive repair purchases from the manufacturer to repair their beds.

Commonly in the past, people would always try to glue the old fitting inside the bladder causing the connection to still be inside the zipper mattress cover. With the M236 Small Hose design improvement, it provides a permanent seal at the air bladder.

by using the M236 Large Hose and the remaining piece of fitting still attached to the bonded latex area of the air bladder. Using a 6 inch hose, and adding a new M236 male fitting with o-ring to the end, the pump hose receptacle has a new matching male partner to form the air tight seal required to keep this Sleep Number® adjustable air bed functioning without purchasing a new air chamber, bladder or pump system at an expensive cost to the owner.

- with the manufacturers request to use the caps provided to test the sleep system, customers would get a FALSE NEGATIVE reading when using the caps to test the air chambers if the o ring had broken off.

This is the main reason I had to find a solution, with the manufacturer having a patent on the pump and air bladder system, only original owners under warranty would be able to purchase a replacement or factory reconditioned pump or air bladder for this product leaving second hand owners of Sleep Number® Beds products unable to purchase parts.

By taking this concern for the consumer, I developed these inexpensive repair hoses and parts to fix the air leak affordably.

These repair hoses provide a fast solution to the issue. Further more, getting the connection outside of the zipper cover of the air bed, provides the fitting a place of potentially less ware. The interior parts of the Sleep Number® air bed can cause undo ware on fitting, and it can also cause consumer confusion when trying to disconnect the pump or air chamber bladder from the air system.

The previous answer from the manufacturer for this issue was to replace the bladder / pump at a sometimes unaffordable price to the consumer.

One other expert in the air bed area suggested adding a camping mattress inside the zipper cover but does not offer any other solutions.

This ingenious M236 Air Bladder Repair Hose compatible with Sleep Number® Beds is providing simple easy repairs for people all across the world today giving them another air tight seal.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION - M236 LG HOSE

The air control system provides a air bladder to have a coupler with o-ring by design that is permanently attached to the air bladder by bonded latex. This male coupler has a small lip at the head of the fitting known as the hull that can break off, causing it to not hold air inside of the receptacle on the end of a air pump hose. Requiring a o-ring inside to form the air tight seal by design, the plastic bevel that holds the o-ring onto the male coupler can break off. Leaving the remaining piece of plastic stuck inside the bonded latex area of the air bladder.

The issue of air leaking and having the fitting inside the zipper cover below the support foam rails creates undo ware on these important fittings. By taking all of these issues into account, brandon fry invented the M236 Air Chamber Repair Hose compatible with Sleep Number® Beds. This air leak repair hose is providing consumers a cost effective way to fix air leaks in Sleep Number® Beds.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Fig. 1 Being a drawing of Sleep Number® Beds air chamber fitting (16) with a broken o-ring (24) in conjunction with tube fitting (12), this fitting with a broken hull (36) and o-ring (4), as sean in figure 1, provide the view of the connection at the bonded latex area (6) of the Sleep Number® Beds air chamber.

Fig. 2 is a drawing of the M236 Large Hose (19) stretched over the remaining male fitting (21) creating a air tight seal at the bonded latex area (35) of the Sleep Number® Beds air chamber. Eliminating the need for the o-ring (13) or the hull (47) that has been broken off the the Sleep Number® Beds air chamber fitting.

Figure 3 is a drawing of the Sleep Number® Beds air chamber with the M236 Large Hose (31) installed over the remaining male fitting (29) creating a air tight seal at the (18) bonded latex area.

Figure 4 is a drawing showing the Sleep Number® Beds air chamber that has had the male fitting (9) pulled out of the air chambers bonded latex (11) area leaving a small hole (16) inside the Sleep Number® Beds air chamber.
