The Branch District Library is pleased to announce the hiring of our new Library Director, Evette M. Atkin. Evette is coming to us from the Midwest Collaborative for Library Services in Lansing, where she has been the Coordinator for the Michigan Evergreen shared library system, and has generally had her finger on the pulse of trends in the public library world. It's fitting then that she's coming to be with us here in Branch County, the "pulse" of Michigan.

Evette received her Master's degree in Library and Information Science from Wayne State University and was named one of Library Journal's 2008 "Movers & Shakers". She was Adjunct Faculty at Wayne State University's graduate program in Library and Information Science, and has presented at numerous conferences including: Internet Librarian, American Library Association Annual Conference, Evergreen International Conference, Michigan Library Association Annual Conference, and the Michigan Association for Media in Education Annual Conference.

Evette will start with us in mid May, and we look forward to her joining our library team and providing renewed leadership in this challenging time for libraries. We'll have a reception for the community to meet and greet her around that time, so check back here for details to be posted soon.
