Saturday, June 27th
Improv Acting With Amy Hill - 5:30-8pm.
Explore spontaneity and creativity in a stimulating, fun and supportive environment with games, stage skills, body awareness and laughter. In this fun and friendly class you won’t need any drama, acting, comedy or improv experience. You don’t even have to be funny! I will teach you the basics and show you how you can improvise your way to success. Build confidence and improve
your communication skills while learning to "be in the moment". **Class size limit: 16
The Business of Acting With Actors Core Group - 8-9pm.
Receive practical facts to help you move forward in your career. Topics include: planning a career path, choosing training, researching head shots and headshot photographers, making and editing a ‘reel’, headshot and resume review, finding work (and knowing what kind of work you’re right for), beginning marketing and networking strategies, and avoiding scams. **Class size limit: 20
Sunday, June 28th
Cold Reading With Brian Mulligan - 6-9pm.
The Cold Reading Intensive focuses on the audition process. Through script analysis, actors learn how to make and enact strong choices. Actors utilize their instincts and experience as scenes are assigned at the start of class, learned quickly and filmed. Next, actors will learn how to break down a scene into actable beats, find the emotional hook, identify character actions, and discover the magic “As if” that will immerse them in the imaginary circumstances of the scene. How the audition process works and who views your audition will also be discussed. The techniques are designed to give the actor increased confidence in audition and performance. **Class size limit: 16
Voice Overs With Yumi Iwama - 6-9pm.
Explore the world of voice over in this informative class. Learn how to approach different types of voice overs, break down copy, and deliver any message clearly with skills you'll learn in this informative class. Everyone will get a chance to read copy and hear themselves.You will also learn about voice over casting websites that allow you to audition and book jobs from your home.
All levels are welcome. **Class size limit: 16
Amy Hill is well known for her many television and film roles, including "Enlightened","The Office", "Seinfeld", "Friends", "50 First Dates", and her groundbreaking role as Grandma in All American Girl. She has appeared on stage across the U.S. from Seattle Rep to Lincoln Center, where she co-starred in "Twelfth Night". She also has over 30 years performing and teaching improv and sketch comedy.
Yumi Iwama is a television, voice over and commercial actress and has appeared on "Kickin' It", "Diagnosis Murder", and "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman". Her voiceover work is featured in the video game Dead Island and the upcoming feature Kelly & Cal. Iwama recently co-starred in the world premier of Tea with Music at the renowned Los Angeles theater, East West Players.
Brian Mulligan is an award winning director and actor whose credits include "Scandal", "True Blood", "Criminal Minds", "Hart of Dixie", and "Vegas". He is an MFA graduate with honors in Drama and Teaching from California State University at Long Beach, where he is currently a faculty member. As a teacher and coach for the past 20 years, he has helped launch careers for hundreds of students, including Zooey Deschanel, Kate Hudson, and Simon Helberg.
