Wasn't sure where to stick this, since I couldn't be fucked taking a screenshot of everything bad quote. Mods, feel free to move to a more appropriate category.

Everyone else: allow yourself to be taken in by the stupidity. If this doesn't tickle your 'dumb-comment-tastebuds' then feel free to browse the rest of the site at your own risk.

Via some shitty, yet popular, G+ psychic community.

The whole thing is prattle about being "spiritual beings".
Then he whines that since the sceptics are magicians and illusionists that are providing a million dollar reward for proof of spiritual existences.
His funniest whine is when he says he doesn't force his views in others and believes science shouldn't force people to "believe" in it either.
WTF?
Just because he gets a warm feeling inside when he practises his spiritual whatever, he expects science to STFU and say nothing?
Its as bad as faith healers who say well you didn't believe enough!

Never introduced myself at the old Atheism place, just hung around and stuff. Might as well do it here while the night is still o' so young.

I'm an atheist, skeptic, secular humanist (like most here). I hail from the hail torn skies of Manchester, UK but I currently live in Perth, Australia. I've been an atheist for as long as I can remember and got into skepticism a few years ago.

I'm 6'2'', dark hair, green eyes. I enjoy long walks in the park and the occasional bloodthirsty argument. See you around.

Chopra's New Hobby

Thought I'd drop this here. This is a comment on my blog trapped by the spam filter. I think Deepak Chopra has a new hobby:

Post writing is also a excitement, if you know then you can write if not it is complex to write.

Why the fuck would you need to this? Even if you're bored, there's a bazillion other shitty time wasters better than doing this. Urgh.

Linux Tip:  Installing MS Internet Explorer

Obviously, you wouldn't do this unless you have a "must have" case for a special purpose, or you're just curious.

First, install Wine (if not already installed) with your package manager.

Next, install wine-gecko.  If you skip this step, when you run IE for the first time, it will attempt to install gecko on its own and there's a frequent problem of it hanging in the middle of the install.

Next (IE was already installed, BTW), open your start menu, Wine, "Browse C: Drive", go to program files \ internet explorer, right-click iexplorer.exe and choose "Open with", then "Wine Windows program launcher".

Linux experts, feel free to correct me or add to this.

Okay, there's been a bit of an influx of god squads in Perth city centre as of late handing out leaflets, which is fine. It's legal, they don't talk to you and you're free to do with that leaflet as you wish. Free speech is free speech.

But on my way home today (I live and work in the city) I get handed this leaflet with the caption "It's True" on the front. Inside (so it's more of a pamphlet) are testimonies about how god cured this guy's alcoholism and a woman's cervical cancer and so on and so forth.

I passed the leaflet back to him (didn't shove it, politely passed it back) but accompanied it with, "You're having a fucking laugh, mate" (I'm English, sue me)

I'm fine with people giving out leaflets, but that's pushing the boundaries for me. It's not just about expressing their faith, but actively trying to get people to move away from science based medicine. That I have a problem with.

Thoughts?

I'm never rude to these idiots but it is hard when they come knocking on my door at 9am on a sunday morning with their bloody watchtower mag and start inundating me with "do you have jesus in your life" etc. they are so arrogant while at the same time , ignorant to presume anything about my life and they feel compelled to "save"  me !!!!!

Please tell me this is satire. Somebody, anybody, tell me this is not the actual reasoning process of a living human being.

Was surprised at that "Question Evolution Day" invitation. Saw you're not attending, I'm not either.

I think following on from the Nye criticisms and not giving these people credibility by showing up to debate them is the best course of action. Can't think of much worse than a Hangout filled with creationists.

Well, I've got better things to do than headbutt a wall, as with the Nye debate when asked what would change your mind and Ham answered "nothing", then there goes the whole point of a debate.
