This giraffedata guy is amazing, and slightly crazy... in a good way ;)
This man has been on a seven-year quest to fix exactly one grammatical error throughout all of Wikipedia

I need to get outside at night with my camera more often. Not that I'll ever take anything approaching this good.

Kind of surprising Python is above C# here, but I'm glad I know C/C++/Java.

HP seems to have invented some sort of mystical computer that does way, way more for way, way less. Stinks of hyperbole but there's some interesting tech underlying the claims.
We've seen bits and pieces of technology that hint at the future of computing, but HP has just taken a big, big step toward bringing them all together.

This is interesting. Telstra denies access to metadata because it's not "personal information". The Attorney-General's Dept denies access to it because it is "personal information". I'll have to remember to follow up on how the privacy commission decides.
The RSPCA, councils and other law-enforcement agencies can obtain reporter Ben Grubb's internet and phone metadata but Telstra won't release it to him. Here he details his 15-month fight for access.

Happy 10th anniversary (of orbiting Saturn) to space probe Cassini. Also watch the video feed from Huygen's probe that it dropped onto Titan (Saturn's largest moon).
On July 1, 2004, the Cassini orbiter was inserted into orbit around Saturn.

How much data can you write to a good SSD before you have a catastrophic failure? About 700 TB.
I feel for the subjects of our SSD Endurance Experiment. They didn't volunteer for this life. These consumer-grade drives could have ended up in a corporate desktop or grandma's laptop or even an enthusiast's PC. They could have spent their days saving spreadsheets and caching Internet files and ...

Actually not so sure about the warnings. Where does SMART messages? If it only guess to event log, good luck noticing that.

You need to check this out, even if you don't use Twitter.
It's a scary world right now, guys. Your Twitter password can cause the Dow Jones to drop nearly 150 points and compel dozens of blogs to write breathless posts about the future of online journalism. You should be worried. In order to help everyone out a little, we've created an algorithm that ...
