Georgia Jewel 50k: A beautiful day running in the hills. Missed a turn and a major climb early on in the first 5 mile loop (not sure how that happened). But corrected the mistake the second time. It was getting hot on the final section and I was a little worried about having enough water after the last Aid Station. Someone in a passing truck warned us about goats and I could see one on the road ahead. I keep looking around waiting for another goat to come out of the bush. When Jessica and I came down from the huge water tank a big goat with a bell around her neck, was waiting on the side of the trail. As we came down the goat jumped into the tail to block us, wiggling its tail like come on, who’s going to pass me. So as I passed her and she started chasing me. I kept looking back waiting to be head butted and wondering if it would hurt. Yeah, I was running a little faster! After a while the girls behind me felt it was safe to pass the goat and me. Wonderful! The goat stayed with me. She was starting to pant, but I couldn’t get her to come to me. A water crossing was coming up and I hoped she would continue to follow to it. The goat stayed at the stream. I hope she found her way home!!!

Going long with the Garmin 310XT.
We all know the battery life on the 310 is 20 hours. That just doesn't cut it for a 24 hour race, or for most of us, a 100 mile race. You can do this same thing with the Garmin 305. With the 310, it works, but not as well. When you connect the external USB battery to the 310, the "charging screen" is displayed. There is no indication that the GPS is operating! When you turn off or disconnect the battery you will be happy to see that your 310 has been logging all your miles!!
