I couldn't be more pissed about that period of time
Federal Reserve, Federal Income tax, Prohibition, WWI... I mean, c'mon!!!!
We have perfect examples of peaceful progress and improving conditions without government and without violence (government IS violence)
Govt intervention had help create the conditions that allowed Ford to do what he did, if it was a 100 years before - without question would have been different.
Hell, even the way his company was formed / setup, was a govt intervention / regulation. Or that he could use resources, already regulated due to the previous 100 years of abuse, or the extreme improved work conditions his employees started with verses employees 50 years before, or the regulated rail system that couldn't lock him out without a cut of every car sold.
Peaceful? The non-peace part, again...took place before Ford, helping bring about the improved conditions which he built his company on.
Govt intervention is the reason people like Ford ever stood a chance in the first place.
Those that do not tend to be very quiet about it. The crapstorm that can rain down on a politician publicly saying he opposes farm subsidies? EPIC. And so very sad.
But, little by little, and very slowly, the numbers of anti-subsidy elected officials will grow.
"The so-called typical "attacking a straw man" implies an adversarial, polemic, or combative debate, and creates the illusion of having completely refuted or defeated an opponent's proposition by covertly replacing it with a different proposition (i.e., "stand up a straw man") and then to refute or defeat that false argument, ("knock down a straw man,") instead of the original proposition"
