Elon Musk may be THE MAN, but I also deeply appreciate +Mark Cuban and his penchant for calling 'em as he sees 'em, then actually taking action on his beliefs—in this case, donating $250,000 to the Electronic Frontier Foundation to battle idiotic and harmful patent laws. After you're done reading this illuminating interview with TechCrunch, Google how he called out the NBA for signing a licensing deal for those B.S. "energy boosting" bracelets. (He's the owner of the Dallas Mavericks NBA team, my non-sports-lovin' pals.)

Speaking of calling 'em like you see 'em and taking action, the EFF does just that. Basically, it fights for your rights so you don't have to—but it does need your help. Even if you don't have a Mark Cuban-level of cash to contribute, the EFF accepts donations large and small. https://supporters.eff.org/donate

FWIW, I've talked to Julie Samuels, the EFF attorney named to "The Mark Cuban Chair to Eliminate Stupid Patents," several times and found her to be a smart, tough, and principled cookie. If you decide to donate, your cash will go to good work.
