I'd like to share some of the conditions I've treated in just the past few day. Everyday as a Massage Therapist/Bodyworker I'm presented with many physical and mental conditions. Many of you don't realize what we are capable of treating as Massage Therapist and Bodyworkers, we let me share: I drained Eustachian tubes on a woman who had a sinus infection, performed a cranial technique to ease the symptoms of post concussion syndrome- post car crash, used a myofascial technique on a 12 year old girl with cerebral palsy and a 65 degree scoliosis curve, removed adhesions and scar tissue on a leg, which I'm prepping for a knee replacement (post motorcycle/tractor trailer collision). And treated a 14 year old high school basketball player with shin splints.
Now tell me, is your job as cool as mine?

The weather has been perfect for outdoor work and clearing space in the home. Don't forget that with the unusually cold tempetures we've experianced this winter, your muscle are a little and more susceptable to injury. Use a heating pad on the achy areas and stretch a little before you start to work. This will help from creating a spasm and stiffness in a muscle. Schedule a deep tissue massage today for injury prevention at www.bodyltm.abmp.com

Hi,
Many of you have been questioning me on the benefits of acupuncture, and if I know someone that I can refer them to? Well I finally had a minute to run up the road, 3 blocks from my office, to pay an Acupuncturist that I've heard about a visit. I heard she has great rates and is very good. Well I am very, very excited to say that I actually know this acupuncturist very well. She and I use to work together. Her name is Laura Eastman and her practice is called Eastman Acupuncture. Visit her website for information on the benefits of acupuncture and a breakdown of her office hours at www.eastman-acupuncture.com . Laura offers community sessions at an affordable rate of only $20, meaning you will be treated in a room with other at the same time. Acupuncture is just another great tool for creating good health and balance. My family and I will be scheduling with Laura soon, I really think you should try her too. If you do decide to call Laura, please don't forget to mention my name as a referral.
On another note, many of you don't think about getting a massage till the pain has started to consume you. One of the most important benefits to massage is injury prevention.  It doesn't make sense to me why anyone would rather deal with the loss of range of motion (which is called guarding, which we create to prevent injury). It really makes me sad when I speak to a client who I haven't heard from in a while, and they tell me they had or have to have surgery. Surgeries that could have been prevented had they came to me first. Maybe I'm not making it clear? Most wrist, knee, hip, shoulder pain (any joint) is usually created by soft tissue imbalances. An imbalance is when one or more muscles on one side of a joint start to become tight. With tight muscles comes bone shifting and posture distortion. This creates pain, loss of range of motion and possibly surgery. Massage conditions your muscles and tendons, providing the blood, oxygen and proper length they need to keep them healthy and bones in proper positions and injury free. I know that massage isn't cheap, but neither is surgery and the loss of work. A pre-season massage will go a long way. Another tip I can give you is, make sure you're feeding your soft tissues what they needs to function properly. A good multivitamin ( one a day doesn't count ), and a good multimineral will help keep your muscles and tendon loose and spasm free.
With warmer weather upon us, many of you will be starting your spring cleaning, home improvements, garden prepping, hiking and of course conditioning yourselves for marathons and other spring sports that many of you take part in. Nothing would make me happier than knowing my clients are functioning at their fullest and enjoying life this summer. Don't be a bench or couch warmer, follow these tips and you'll be feeling better with more energy to do what you love to do this summer.
If you have any question or if you'd like to know what my availablity is, please call me at 484-241-7115 or visit  Body Language Therapeutic Masssage at www.bodyltm.abmp.com where you can schedule online or email me.
