Save your system resources for your applications - not your desktop.
Latest +Bodhi Linux 3.0.0 release after a fresh install + update showing system resources. Note that 36 MB of the 132 MB of RAM used is from the system monitor and another 14 MB is from VirtualBox processes.

Meaning a clean Bodhi setup will be using only 80~ MB of RAM by default.

If you wanted to trim this even further you could disable the default network manager applet and get another 30~ MB of RAM back.

How low does your desktop go?
