A rich and meaty meal of Fettuccine alla Bolognese is the perfect dish to cure the mid-week drag.

Classic Italian fare & a wide-ranging wine list are on offer at this rustic, brick-walled eatery.- Google
"Grilled octopus, gnocchi are the best in their menu."
"Very good Italian food in a wine bar setting-great service and nice atmosphere."

Great neighborhood Italian gem! Excellent ambiance, food, and service. I'm taking away one star because our group was placed at the first table by the front window. Normally, it would be a perfect place to eat, but the glare from the setting sun was overbearing for our table. The server admitted it happens all the time. However, I do plan on going back--still thinking about the brushetta!

Deserves more than 3 stars. Great ambience, friendly service, great menu. The specials are extra good. Reasonably priced too.

I've been here twice now. The tagliatelle is actually quite good - I had that both times. This time, I shared the chicken w/ mashed potatoes and broccoli w/ my gf and I can honestly say it was bad. Sort of tasted like a microwave dinner. All three elements were super bland - almost no flavor. We also had the mussels tonight which were average. The service was good.

Great selection of wine and quality of food, in a nice neighborhood But the best is the service and atmosphere. Thanks to Alfredo and the rest of the team, we had a great evening

Wife and I were in NYC for the weekend, and had dinner at Bocca di Bacco at 828 9th Ave prior to seeing a play on Broadway. We made reservations in advance and were seated immediately upon arrival. Atmosphere: Table for two was close to the adjoining table, but it was easy to hold a conversation without interfering with those around you. Lights were dimmed enough to set a romantic mood but you could still see. Service: Started out responsive, but midway through the meal my wife's coke glass was removed from the table and no refill was returned. I asked the waiter to bring a refill. After a few minutes passed, I saw him standing alone staring into space. I got his attention and asked him again - he returned quickly with the refill. Appetizer: Arancini Bocca di Bacco (rice balls) - Delicious, but the serving size of (2) was a bit overpriced at $12 and left you wanting for more. They were cooked to perfection, and paired nicely with a tomato based sauce. Entree 1: Tagliata Al Tagliere (sirloin steak) ordered medium well - Steak was prepared appropriately. Reduction sauce was mild and allowed the flavor of the steak to shine through. Entree 2: Costolette D' Agnello (lamb chops) with mashed potatoes - Serving size was appropriate (three chops + potatoes). Two of the three chops were prepared to the medium temp I ordered, & held both their flavor and moisture. The third was charred badly enough to destroy the flavor of the entire chop. The potatoes were light, airy, and paired nicely with the lamb & balsamic reduction sauce. Both entrees were the most expensive on the menu at a very reasonable $28. Desert: Tiramisu (one of our favorites) - Airy, rich chocolate, and fresh strawberries on top - no better way to end a meal! Overall: We would come back & recommend to others looking for a romantic setting to have a relaxed conversation at a reasonable price. I might order a different entree, but was pleased with the pricing, service, and atmosphere.

My friend wanted to try this Italian restaurant with several locations in the city. We ended up in the theater district. We actually wanted the Hell’s Kitchen. It was a busy night and even with reservations had to wait a few for a table. The crowd was typical mid-town. Men in leather loafers or business attire. Women all dolled up for the evening with their Coach bags. Most if not all eating before their Theatre. Well, some might not make it.. One lady in a chic attire only a mid-westerner thinks what one should wear to a NYC show was so plastered she could barely stand. She just decided to sit back down…there goes Mamma Mia at 7pm. We got a nice cozy table only by squeezing through a mass of people between the bar and people eating on the other side. The waiter was quick to get to us. The menu looked good with assorted meat, seafood and pasta dishes. We started with some cocktails to jolly up the meal. The grilled octopus appetizer was very well flavored tender. The seafood special past came with half a lobster and I got the grilled Branzio (Not the whole fish. Just the fillet). I’d have to say food wise was very good. The server was attentive water always filled. I’d have so say while the many Italian restaurant in the city. The food quality and service was very good but Bocca De Bacco seems to me like another Italian chain like Biaggi’s, Buca de Beppo and Maggiano’s.

I don't know why this place has only 3 1/2 stars, I think it's awesome! I ate here the other night for a birthday thing and I must say, I loved the ambiance, service, drinks and food! The hostess wanted to seat us by the door, but it was a little nippy, so we asked to be moved. She did so, and was very nice about it. We ordered drinks, I had the Cucumber something or other, my boyfriend had a fruity drink, I can't remember what it was exactly. They were big and delicious! The calamari was wonderful. As well as the fettuccine Alfredo and the lamb shank my boyfriend had. We had creme brule for dessert was which good, but no amazing. I especially liked that the decor was cute and not stuffy like some Italian restaurants. Overall, I had a great time and enjoyed my meal!
