Gaetan Demers has been repairing fine watches and clocks in the heart of Lawrence for 30 years. His shop sits across from a small strip mall, above a barber shop. It has all the personality…

Winter Storm Juno or the Blizzard of 2015 or Snowmegeddon or whatever you want to call it may have missed the New York/New Jersey area, but it definitely blasted New England. Especially the Greater Boston…

I'm not a morning person. Especially when the temperature is hovering at 0°. But when +Mike Tully  texted me yesterday asking if I was interested in going out this morning to photograph sea smoke I found myself texting back an enthusiastic "YES!" So Mike, +Steven Perlmutter  and I left for Portsmouth, NH at 5:15 this morning.

We endured the bitter cold and wind but were rewarded with a gorgeous sunrise and this lobster boat — proof that the three of us and the other half dozen or so photographers there weren't the craziest ones out at that hour.

I'm on the research team for The Photo Frontier's #WE35 project. (Read about it here: http://www.thephotofrontier.com/35/ ) The concept is simple but the execution is not. We are tasked with shooting in 35mm FOV. That's a 35mm lens, or equivalent in other than full frame 35mm.

Think about it — go shoot exclusively with one focal length. One prime lens. Expand your vision. Make it work.

So I'm launching a #WE35 series. I'm turning my lens on the inner city storefronts of Lawrence, MA. Since I get home after dark, most of these images will be taken at night. That should also add some interesting data to the team's research.

I have to say, I am having an absolute blast participating in the ‪#WE35 project hosted by my friends  at The Photo Frontier.

The idea is simple – Commit to shooting within the 35mm field of view to boost your creativity. Each month we get a new creative challenge.
February's challenge was a throwback to the days of film. And it was a challenge.

My results are on my blog.

February’s WE35 assignment was definitely a challenge for me. Our WE35 Overlords asked us to capture our world in 36 shots and combine them into a digital contact sheet. That’s 36 single shots, straight out…

The last morning at Acadia National Park with the NXNW crew brought us back to the Park Loop Road. We were there the morning before, but shot on the rocks at the base of Otter…

Happy to be part of the #ThePhotoFrontier's #WE35 Research Team! Yes, I'm finding art and comfort in a 35mm FOV!

Here is an entry:

I have no idea where this WE35 project is going and I'm not quite sure how my work fits in yet. But I do know that it is fun. It not only has me thinking…

Introduction
I was born, raised and still reside in the Boston area.

I am a passionate photography and an avid runner.

A good portion of my photographic work over the past couple of years has been dedicated to capturing images of the mills and other architectural and industrial artifacts of the 19th century. It is part urban exploration, part preservation photography..

Of course, its not all I shoot. I enjoy shooting other old and forgotten buildings, landscapes, cityscapes, architecture and people.

As runner, I've completed over 30 marathons with a personal best of 2:58. In 2004, I ran from San Francisco to Boston as part of a relay team of 10 runners. The run raised over $300,000 for various children's charities.
