I'm looking forward to learning about Cold Climate Heat Pumps tomorrow evening. Join me LIVE on the Hangout On Air.

Do you have a question about heat pumps? Leave it in the comments section on my website - http://bobthegreenguy.com/heat-pump-workshop/

Cold climate heat pumps have rapidly emerged as a promising technology for Vermont.  Come to a workshop to learn about heat pump options for both hot water and space heating and find out if they make sense for your home.

This workshop will cover:
- the latest in heat pump technologies,
- the relative economics of using heat pumps versus other fuel sources,
successful case studies,
- and resources to help you.

The workshop will be led by Jake Marin, HVAC Program Manager with Efficiency Vermont.  Heat pump manufacturer reps and/or installers will be on-site to share information.  The workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 6th from 6:30-8:00 pm in the Porter Community Room of the Montshire Museum in Norwich, Vermont. Doors will open at 6:00 pm.  Food and drinks will be provided.  The workshop is being organized, in partnership with Efficiency Vermont, by Sustainable Energy Resource Group and is cosponsored by the Donnella Meadows Institute, Sierra Club of the Upper Valley, Two-Rivers Ottauquechee Regional Commission and Vital Communities. For more information, contact SERG at 802-785-4126 or bwalker@SERG-info.org.
This Hangout On Air is hosted by Bob “the Green Guy” Farnham. The live video broadcast will begin soon.

Mary Albert, Executive Director, the U.S. Ice Drilling program, will speak about her research on ice cores from the Greenland and Antarctic Ice Sheets and temperate glaciers. These ice cores provide evidence of past climate that allow us to view the present in the context of times before human influence on the planet.

Ice cores also provide evidence of the impact of economics and policy on the environment since the start of industrialization.  Human influence on the climate system now is clear, and is extremely likely the dominant cause of warming since the mid-20th century. A look around reveals that hope for mitigation may arise from economics, in this time of opportunity!

Sponsored by the Sierra Club Upper Valley Group and SERG

Thank you to everyone who has preordered my new album. I always dread the process of "crowd-funding" but there ain't nothing painful about it this time around. It's way more scary to sit in front of two Neumann microphones & wonder if you could possibly rise to the level of the technology staring you down … I've learned to just fall into it putting expectations aside .. it's all an experiment anyway. Why not venture who you are in any given moment in the face of naysayers & those who don't get you at all? What do you really have to lose? I guarantee, you'll make a few friends, and make at least one person feel less alone. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1215143917/horse-thief-a-new-album-from-kristina-stykos

Vermont’s pension funds are at risk!

To avoid catastrophic climate change, most fossil fuels must remain unburned. Global consensus is emerging for aggressive climate legislation that will restrict fossil fuels, resulting in stranded assets – fossil fuel reserves that are no longer able to earn an economic return as a result of the changes in the market and regulatory environment.

This forum brings together people working with public investments to share and learn about climate risk and carbon liabilities.

Invited panelists:
Beth Sawin, Climate Interactive
Bill McKibben, co-founder of 350.org
Eric Becker, CIO of Clean Yield Asset Management
Matt Patsky, CEO of Trillium Asset Management

For details and to RSVP, contact jillian@350vt.org

Introduction
Learn to live sustainably with Bob the Green Guy, “Head Aggregator” at www.bobthegreenguy.com, a developing website with news, books, products and insight on ways to live sustainably. His interest in energy-efficiency and sustainability started as Town Energy Coordinator in Chelsea Vt in 1976. Recognizing the need to be frugal in his new businesses marketing efforts, Bob read dozens of books like “Inbound Marketing” by Dharmesh Shah and Brian Halligan, “Content Rules” by C.C. Chapman and Ann Handley, and “Crush It” by Gary Vaynerchuk. He listened to hundreds of hours of podcast interviews on digital marketing like “The Twist Image Podcast” with Mitch Joel, and “Marketing Over Coffee” with Christopher S. Penn and John Wall. Getting advice from these digital-marketing industry leaders, he’s continuing to learn and applying all he can to marketing on the web. Social media marketing and reputation management are rapidly changing and constantly evolving fields, but Bob can offer current insights for individuals and businesses who are new, or relatively new, to social media marketing.
