While GDP continues to grow and the stock market continues to reach new peaks, the middle class continues to fall further behind economically.
The annual Census data was recently released and showed a grim picture when it comes to household income. While GDP continues to grow and the stock market continues to reach new peaks, the middle c...

The main problem with the U.S. job market isn’t a gap in basic skills or a shortage of employees with particular skills, but a mismatch between the supply and the demand for certain skills. There’s a greater supply of college graduates than a demand for college graduates in the labor market.

Among other things, the Islamic State has a shocking amount of money — $2 BILLION dollars — four times as much as the Taliban. And their wealth is growing, with $3 million dollars a day in oil and gas revenue from captured facilities.

"... the Ebola virus that is ravagaing West Africa was not imported from Central Africa but caused by a "new strain" of the disease - raising the specter of further regional epidemics."

#Ebola
Following the WHO's warnings, (the ironically named) Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has declared a "state of emergency" over the Ebola outbreak that is rapidly escalating in his nation. This comes on the heels of a US medical journal study that finds, as Reuters reports, the Ebola virus that is ravagaing West Africa was not imported from Central Africa but caused by a "new strain" of the disease - raising the specter of further regional epi...

Good read ...

De facto, ISIL is a state because it controls territory larger than that of a plurality of the UN’s members, and because the people it rules prefer it to their former rulers.
President Obama's response to ISIS is another example of how our ruling class couples their illusions with whatever they find it convenient to do.

I don't know where you got the idea that that was an American pastime Kimber.  Actually, indentured servants (whites) and slaves (blacks) were often married and lived decent lives. Jefferson "banged" out several children with one of his slaves with her consent.  He set the children free but she CHOSE to stay with her man as his servant.  It wasn't until the civil war and after,  that the true animosity between blacks and whites started.  Thanks to the carpet baggers and scalawags. They were much like the carpet baggers and scalawags we have in office today.  But enough of the history lessons cause it has nothing to do with this post or the bone headed terrorist that lives in the white house now.  That lost in space son of bitch can't even prove where he is from...

And…. If you just realized…. Yes, ISIS or ISIL currently on the march in Iraq, came from Syria, fought in Syria and more than likely was armed by the U.S. inside Syria and Turkey. They were more likely trained, in Adana, a city in southern Turkey about 60 miles (100 km) from the Syrian border, which is also home to Incirlik, a U.S. air base where U.S. military and intelligence agencies maintain a substantial presence; by the same CIA operatives used by the State Dept to send Syria weapons from Benghazi and Darnah back in Libya.

In Sierra Leone ... a fearful population is failing to seek medical attention for any diseases, health officials say. If they have malaria, the feeling is they don’t want to go near a hospital with Ebola cases. If it’s Ebola, they don’t believe the hospitals can help them anyway.
As the death toll rises in West Africa amid the worst Ebola outbreak on record, a separate threat is compounding the problem: the rainy season and the malaria that comes with it.

Story
Introduction
I don't post much publicly unless I have something unique to say.   There's already too much public re-sharing with no added content value.

I comment.  I'm interested in discussion not argument.  Snarky replies are the surest way to discourage me from commenting further.

These are the areas I am most interested in and likely to comment on.  Follow me if you have like interests:
  • Politics as theater of the absurd
  • Economics (Austrian - Mises and Hayek)
  • Science esp. the commercialization of space - SpaceX, Virgin Galactic and Scaled Composites
  • Technology - long list here; not a fanboy (Apple included); early adopter
  • Genealogy / History
  • The Great Lakes Basin / Water Management
  • Catholic Social Teaching - Solidarity, Subsidiarity and Distributism

And, finally, here's my list of witty sayings that best describe me:
  • No matter what happens... somebody will find a way to take it too seriously
  • If you're not paying for it, you are not the customer, you are the product
  • Men are from earth. Women are from earth. Deal with it
  • All generalizations are false
  • Plan to be spontaneous - tomorrow
  • Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once
  • Why do people who know the least know it the loudest?
  • Give me ambiguity or give me something else
  • Be yourself. No one can ever tell you you're doing it wrong
  • Good judgment comes from bad experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment
  • Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it
  • Generally speaking, you aren't learning much when your mouth is moving
  • If there's one thing we learn from history, it's that we don't learn from history
  • You HAVE to believe in miracles to depend upon them
  • For every action there is an equal and opposite criticism
  • No one is listening until you make a mistake
  • The facts, although interesting, are usually irrelevant
  • Indecision is the key to flexibility
  • I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges
