Sleek, high-energy option for Southern comfort food, live bands & down-home cocktails.- Google
"Had the Fried Green Tomatoes, the Roasted Beet Salad and Shrimp and Grits."
"Must try: the Mac and cheese and the chicken and waffles."

I went to the Blue Rooster last night with five friends. The music was absolutely the best, I am sorry I cannot say that about the food. My friends who had the chicken and waffles raved about them, I had the Mahi Mahi and the Mac and Cheese. The Mahi Mahi was way overdone and very dry and the not so spicy dip according to the waiter had a real bite to it. The Mac and Cheese was lukewarm and I could not find the cheese in it. I ate half of my meal and it did not sit well and so I left early with an upset stomach. And why do you not serve White Zinfandel by the glass? Only by the bottle and a brand that I have never heard of. So keep the bands coming and I may come back and bring more friends, and perhaps try the chicken.

We recently attended the Gospel Brunch held every Sunday at The Blue Rooster. Perhaps it was just the featured performer, but this was not Gospel music. More like Born Again Christian music. To me Gospel is energetic and uplifting. This was depressing and totally white bread Protestant hymns. The audience was dead . Certainly not what we expected. We won't be back. The food was pretty good, though

I went there for my anniversary dinner at 7 pm on sunday night and was charged a 12 dollar cover. Thank god the door person did not charge our 8 yr old that was with us. We probably would have left but we had been looking forward to their southern comfort food. They say the band was good ,but I wouldn't know as I left after dinner before they played. Commented to the door person on how great they were and she said but they haven't played. Yes that was sarcasm and an oppurtunity for you to do the right thing and refund my 24 dollars. The food is great, but they ran out of items and deserts. How do you run out of peach cobbler??? The waitress was nice but kept calling my son girl, lady , I mean he does have long hair---lives on the island ,likes to surf---he would be an ugly girl. She tried just needs a little training on what a reduction is and . I like this restruant I really do, but I don't think I will be back to many choices between Anna Maria and Sarasota.

What a rip off. They advertised having gospel singing on Sundays. We anticipated enjoying beautiful gospel harmony but what they had was loud "new age" rock. The food was way over priced and the selection poor. Oh well, we did enjoy being with friends but left hungry. Never again.

Recently went to the Blue Rooster for the live music. The menu isn't huge but it is diverse. Service was excellent and the food was fantastic! Had the Fried Green Tomatoes, the Roasted Beet Salad and Shrimp and Grits. To bad I didn't have enough room for dessert. All of the plates were a work of art without being fussy, and the flavors - they were to die for! This was the best dinner I had while visiting Sarasota. Don't miss it!

Make the stop. The menu was kinda big, but the staff was helpful. Drinks were unique so be open minded and go big.
