If I could rate this place -5 I would. This was by far the WORST dining experience of my life. This was mainly because we had a large group of people. I would not recommend going to this place with a group bigger than 3, and even then I wouldn't recommend it because the food wasn't good. Several orders got mixed up or delivered late and/or cold. In addition, three of our group who ordered the same item all said it was unsatisfactory. After everyone finished eating, we, as a group of customers, had to figure out who owed what on our bill with a paper notepad because it was beyond the capability of our genius waiter to split up the tabs. The excuse was that the place did not have a computer, so this somehow imparted his ability to write our orders on different papers slips at the very start. When we finish, we are given a long list of charges (with no items attached). What we were instructed to do was look at a menu, find our item and the corresponding price on the ticket, then circle and initial the prices of what we bought individually. We were all supposed to add our own bills up, and also add tax and a gratuity fee (which is non-optional). This may sound simple, and it should be if you're a waiter who does their job. It's not as simple when you hand this ridiculous task to 16 confused (and already unhappy) customers. To make matters worse, our waiter acted like this was the most ordinary process in the world when no other restaurant on the planet would do this to its customers, and seemed to think that we were the ones who were making the process complicated. He was increasingly unhelpful, and exhasperated (as were we at this point) and continued to say that there was nothing he could to to simply split up the check and bring it back in a format that made sense. Eventually a couple members of our group took charge and began writing down each persons name, the total prices of each persons meal, the added on tax and gratuity fee, AND whether they were going to pay with cash or card. After we had figured everything out, we had our waiter finally start running cards and making change one at a time. By the time finally were able to leave this awful place, we had spent OVER TWO HOURS figuring out this business with the check that should have taken our waiter 10 minutes to simply prepare and hand out to us. We were not only overcharged for poor quality food and under-par service, but we had to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to do our waiter's job for him AND pay a non optional gratuity fee of over $30 (all together) that I feel he did not deserve. Our entire evening was wasted, and we were not able to attend an event we had planned on going to because so much of our time had been spent trying to figure this whole debacle out.

Good place to visit. Checks cannot be separated by person. The whole bill is put into one lump sum with an 18% gratuity. The server was polite and friendly. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time.

The first time I went in here, I spent about 5 minutes looking over the drab late-night menu, then walked out. The crazy swag on the walls, left over from an era I wasn't around to experience, wasn't nearly enough to keep me interested in the standard bar food offered late night. I returned with a group of people who insisted the regular dinner menu was worth my while. They were right. The full menu is full of inspired American fare, which is complimented by an extensive beer list. I recently went back with a group of out-of-towners who were similarly impressed.

Me and some friends decided to stop for a bite to eat and were horribly displeased. Our waitress probably checked on us once after taking our orders. No drink refills, no do you need anything, nothing. Then come to find out they don't separate tickets which would be nice to know in advance and the worst part was after just dropping the check off and rushing off, we tried getting someone's ANYone's attention and everyone just ignored us but yet the had time to congregate at the bar and all take shots and we tried getting their attention yet again less than FIVE FEET AWAY! And they all just walked away INCLUDING OUR WAITRESS WHO LOOKED RIGHT AT US. So not worth the price for mediocre food and shabby service.

Guess they were havin a bad night. Our first time there. We were warned by the hostess that the wait time in food was a little long tonight and we said ok. Well after an hour and a half and our waitress overwhelmed. Our waitress even asked us if we were ready for our check lol. We finally asked another waitress to kindly check on our order, she did and came out with it. Chilimac was cold, chili was burnt. Bery dissappointing for our first time there. Whatever our waitress was on she needs to get off of it.

Came here with a large group and that was a big mistake. First off they do not split the bill because they don't have a computerized system supposedly. Second we had two of our party walk out because they waited 2 hours for their food (it came about 5 minutes after they left). Lastly, in my opinion the food was OK at best. I know a lot of other places I would rather eat. Our waiter was nice so that's a plus.

Nothing particularly amazing about this place. The beer is average (both price and quality), the interior is a bit gross, the food is uninspired and overpriced. If you like darts and want a "vintage" feel, then Blue Hill might be for you. Otherwise, it's charm is outweighed by its own mediocrity.

Joe Edwards, the King of the U. City Loop. His invention. This, and the stupid trolley that has reduced traffic lanes to one in either direction. The burgers are okay. The folks that work there are well-practised and run the manufacturing side of the kitchen / restaurant / tavern too well. Suffers from the weight of its own inertia. Nothing has changed for years. Yet to the too-well-to-do Washington University students need top spend all there free mommy and daddy's money to find enjoyment. White (trash) St. Louis, an utterly culture-less city save for consumption and filth, would not know better, and keep returning.
