Don't skip breakfast! It may seem like you are saving the calories, but extra fiber in the morning means less hunger late in the afternoon.

Get a jumpstart and pick out some breakfast recipes from Pinterest to try this week. http://ow.ly/KvMaT

More than 80 percent of all visits to the emergency room could have been managed in less time and at a lower cost to you by your primary care doctor, an urgent care center or walk-in clinic.

Understand your options so you're prepared the time next you or your family needs medical attention.

Your tax tip this week: the deadline for 2014 already has passed, so if you did not sign up for coverage a penalty may apply.

However, for coverage in 2015, there will be a special enrollment period for people who were unaware or didn’t understand the impact of the new requirement to enroll. You’ll be able to sign up for coverage from March 15 to April 30, 2015, to help you avoid a penalty on your 2015 taxes.

Visit www.healthcare.gov/taxes for details.

Everything we do is only possible because of our dedicated and hard-working employees!

So on Employee Appreciation Day, we take time out to thank each and every Blue KC employee for all they do.

Your tax tip this week: the IRS says the financial assistance you may have received from the federal government for health insurance is not counted as income.

It is a refundable tax credit available through the healthcare marketplace which helps lower your monthly payments. Find more information at www.healthcare.gov/taxes.

There's about a month left before your taxes must be filed.

Over the next few weeks, we'll help answer some common questions and share information that will help you with filing your taxes. Here's your first tax tip:

If you or anyone in your household signed up for 2014 health insurance coverage through marketplace, the IRS says you will need to provide the following information on Form 8962 with your income tax returns: the total monthly cost of your health insurance coverage, the amount you paid toward these monthly premiums and the amount of financial assistance you received from the government each month.

Visit www.healthcare.gov/taxes for more information.
