Yeah, let's keep all those crimes and killings anonymous!!!  :-(
Our entire society is based on protecting peoples' rights, even if that means a bad guy occasionally gets away.  If you'd rather, we could switch to guilty until proven innocent; that would certainly mean more bad guys getting locked up...
The right to be anonymous? I'm not sure which right is being talked about here. 
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
You start letting police go on fishing expeditions, and it won't end well.
+Erik Bixby it seems like you're somewhat obscuring the intent here. Searches? Seizures? Security?? This is creation of a database of information! The government has a database of all LICENSE HOLDERS for pete's sake! You know.. for VEHICLE! You're telling me THAT'S ok ..but knowing who has a gun...that's scary to you?
