Hello,

Just found your plugin and it's really cool. Have an idea, though.. do you plan to include some auto-generated options for UTM fields, say the current date / time <yyyy-mm-dd> or <hhmm> or anything like that?

Thanks.

Google Authorship Withdrawn from Global Search Results

Google has tanked its Authorship programme which has been running for the last three years. Authorship data will no longer be tracked from the rel="author" markup.

Google cites two primary reasons for this move:

1. The adoption rate of authorship markup has been too low.

Not many authors, webmasters and online publishers have incorporated the markup and as quickly as would be expected.

Even for those who have, the implementation has been faulty in some cases.

2. The impact of authorship on search user behavior is low.

Google notes that the adoption of authorship in search has made little impact in how searchers interact with results.

Though that comes as a surprise, the data speaks for itself.

It doesn't mean you should go ahead and remove the markup if you've implemented it, though. With the introduction of Google's Knowledge Vault and the steady move towards semantic search, this may just be a case of unsuccessful implementation.

Google authorship does still show up in searches from people in your network, that is, in your circles or contacts - when you're logged in while searching. There's currently no indication that this will be removed as well... for now. So keep the markup, folks.

How do you feel about this announcement?
Anyone who follows Google knows that nothing it creates is immune from elimination. Like so many efforts before it, Authorship is fading into the sunset.

Here's a brilliant post from +Search Engine Land detailing 21 #SEO  metrics you should keep an eye on. Sometimes, these are the early warning signal you need to catch an upcoming dip in your rankings. Very instructive.
An SEO issue that goes unnoticed, even for a few days, can have a huge impact on business -- so what metrics can you use to detect problems early?

It's been a long time coming, and we're already far gone with it, but #html5  just got the giant nod from the #W3C . Recommended - that means it's final and it's definitely the next step for the HTML spec.

Personally I like the fact that things are finally being unified in this spec, and we're recovering from the splits and branches that happened with XHTML.
The HTML5 standard is now officially being recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The HTML5 standard has been around for years and powers many of your favorite sites. ...

So, Google just made some amendments to its SERPs outputs, affecting how titles are displayed.

Hmm... wonder how long before all my favourite #SEO  plugins get updated to conform to this.

I like the advice at the end of the article - don't start revising all your previously published posts, etc.. but do keep it in mind, especially if you're a publisher.

Still, I'm sure we'll come up with a number soon enough - what do you think?
Google's 2014 redesign had a big impact on search result titles, cutting them off much sooner. This post includes a title preview tool and takes a data-driven approach to finding the new limit.
