Complement to my just posted YouTube video:
Three full body Fuse3DAvatars and one Auto3DAvatar. This is the first in a series of tutorial blog posts walking through the creation of realistic 3D Avatars. In future tutorials we will cover exporting them out of the 3D Avatar Store and into the Fuse desktop application, animating them, ...

Just released the first version of our Developer Console at the 3D Avatar Store. With the Developer Console, one can view, run, edit and re-run HTML / CSS / Javascript source code examples, as well as create completely new, private and secure apps of your own using the 3D Avatar Store's WebAPI. Integrate neural net powered 3D Reconstruction of facial photos into auto-magically lip sync'ing 3D Avatars looking just like the person in the supplied photo.

Check it out! Create talking avatars of your family and friends, put words in their mouths, and more. There's no better platform for learning 3D animation development than when applied to a little bit of mischief!
We are proud to announce the public release of our new Facial Feature Finder! This is the software that given a photo of someone, it locates and outlines their eyes, nose, mouth, and face outline. Our new face finder is a significant improvement over our previous version.

I've been working in a new neural net generation, updating from generation 2 to generate 5 at www.3d-avatar-store.com. These are the 'nets that perform facial feature identification in photos, and the difference between the generations is remarkable. Where the previous facial feature identifier has a training set of 70,000 real people's photos and laser scans, the new generation has 300,000 subjects, the facial feature identification quality is significantly improved,  the processing time is 5% what it was previously, and this generation works with video - able to analyze multiple video frames and generate both a "best guess" at a person's true 3D shape as well as the individual's frame-to-frame expression distortions as portrayed in the video source. I'm very excited to bring this new capability online.

Been working on this for a while: given a photo of someone it performs 3D Reconstruction and generates an animation ready photo-real avatar. Just added auto-generation of 82 facial morph targets, and a small library of auto-shrink-wrapping wigs, ears and other accessories for in-browser play. This is a Web App as well as an API, so you can include Avatars as well as have performance ready 3D Avatar creation in your own apps and games.
We just made our latest work public: each avatar now gets 82 morph targets auto-generated, as well as a small library of accessories. Much, much more is pending in the near future! (Such as our in-browser animation editor!) But first, better documentation on how to use the new features!

Just did a fairly large update to my www.3D-Avatar-Store.com, with new features such as auto-generation of 82 facial morph targets per avatar, a small library of auto-shrink-wrapped wigs and accessories. All presented in Three.js, with neural nets generating the avatars via a load balanced a Node.js backend capable of 25,000 avatars per hour per server. :)
Huge site update: now with Morph Targets and Accessories! Examples of Good Quality Auto 3D Avatars · Our Game Developer's Conference Booth Presentation · Thanks for the Warm Reception at GDC 2013 · more. www.3D-Avatar-Store.com : Instant Photo-Real 3D Avatar Creation ...

As usual, been working on the reconstruction system. Getting ready to release new full body Fuse 1.3 compatible 3D Avatars, each generated from a single photo.

Been working hard at the 3D Avatar Store, so many new features I forget writing them all. Here's a post describing our fantastic new Facial Feature Finder, showing some of it's great results, plus the first peek at our new Developer Console.

Scummy behavior from www.skillpages.com - I've never visited their site, but receive an email from some job offer on their site. Click the link and I find a completely fictitious profile of me with wrong personal information, but somewhat accurate career information. WTF assholes!

Introduction
"Iowa boy" who went east for college, went west for career, and found happiness as a technology architect creating media production platforms for interactive media, video games, feature film visual effects, and the web. After being team or lead engineer for over 32 commercial software products, and an operations analyst for six major release feature films, I earned an MBA. From there I launched a consulting practice while founding a 3D technology start up. Today I wear many hats: with strong financial, statistical and strategic analysis skills, I do CTO and MBA level consulting for technology dependent organizations; with decades of AI, 3D & media production pipeline software development, I do advanced hands-on software consulting; with advanced Drupal web development skills, I create rich media and eCommerce web platforms sporting all kinds of neat stuff like RESTful APIs, integrated 3D rendering, and cloud scaling. Pretty much, what ever you do, I can make it more efficient, more profitable, and a happier place to spend your days.

It's two rooms, one a quiet conference room and the other a large classroom sized space, with whiteboards all round both, nice high speed Internet, and anywhere from 2 to 2 dozen people working on their own projects. It's a free coworking space, with low pricing options ($150/mo.) if you want your own key to come and go as you please. For the free users, one simply needs to be there when one of the key holders or founders is there. Typical M-F times are 10am till 9pm, and open times on weekends vary, but 10am to 4pm Saturday is common. The people are mostly freelancer web developers or programmers or graphic artists - but some non-geeks work there too. Everyone is really nice.
