Does anybody know what this is? I got turned onto it years ago by a student of mine from Uruguay. That was a hint, by the way.

I was disappointed. It tasted just like restaurant coffee or something. Flip side? It was only a buck!

What are you guys doing for Valentines?

I am up near Boulder, Colorado this weekend with my son attending a 4-day advanced drawing workshop that is part two of the workshop attended three years ago at the same hotel, same artist/instructor, and lunch at the same noodle shop today. See photos of then and now:

We finally took down the tree this weekend. While we were boxing things up one of my daughters found this wreath they made when they were little. She wanted to throw it away, but I wanted to keep for memories. She incredulously said "why?" All I could say was, "you'll understand someday."

In Texas we say "yippee!" when we get snow, but I know in other parts of the nation you're tired of it. I hope you guys in the Northeast are doing ok!

How do you feel about the idea of eating raw eggs?

It definitely doesn't sound too appealing to me, but after learning this woman's story.. I might reconsider.

Happy Love Day!

Valentine's Day is coming up. Do you participate, or say "bah, humbug!"?

True Story:   My wife was from Taiwan, and while it is getting more popular now to celebrate Valentine's Day (they call it "Lover's Holiday") in Taiwan than it was 20 years ago when we married, it is still not as big of a deal as it is in the U.S.  As our first Valentine's Day together in Taiwan in 1993 approached my wife said "you don't have to make a big deal about it. It's not such a big deal here." I replied, "ok". However, on the 14th, I DID make a big deal about it and do you think she thought nothing of it? Ha! Women are women! She never forgot it, and it was one of her fondest memories in her last weeks leading up to her passing, sharing how special it meant to her.

Yes, it has gotten commercialized (see stats below), but don't let that get in the way of honoring your special somebody, be it lover, friend or family. Cheap, "non-commercialized" is fine. It's often the simple things that count the most.

Don't be a Scrooge. Tell someone you love them!

P.S. Share what you are doing for your Valentine (unless they are on G+, too, and you want it to be a surprise) I am still thinking what I want to do for my daughters and my mother.

**CNN reports that Valentine’s gift spending will reach $18.6 billion dollars this year. $4.4 billion dollars will be spent on jewelry alone. Other interesting Valentine’s Day facts:
·   $1.6 billion dollars -- The amount people will spend on candy.
·   $1.9 billion dollars -- The amount people will spend on flowers.
·    40.7% -- The percentage of people who will use their Smartphone to purchase Valentine's gifts.
·   151 million -- The approximate number of cards that are exchanged on Valentine's Day.

On a very basic level, I help people with credit and debt challenges repair and improve their credit standing, reduce their debt and hopefully start a new lifestyle where they manage their debt and finances rather than it manage them. For business owners I guide and assist in creating credit in the business name as well as obtain business financing.

I have been eating at Panda House in Arlington, Texas near UT Arlington for 25 years. Don't let the "hole-n-the-wall" look deter you. In fact, the hole-n-the-walls are often the best, and Panda House is one of those. The food is fresh, tasty, and the service is impeccable. It is family run by Chinese, and they have perfected the Chinese dishes for American tastes. If this is not enough, you will love the prices. Lunch items all under $6.00 for plenty of food. Check them out, and tell them Blair sent you. :)

My honest take on Napoli's is that the food is great, but the service is just a little too, what shall I say, laid back. The wait was longer than usual, and the servers didn't seem like we, the customers, were her priority. Other than that, if you want some great Italian style pasta in Mansfield, this mom and pop place is the place to go.

I have not used Steve directly for a mortgage or financial advice, but I can say that his and his team's knowledge and resources available for consumers are excellence par none. If you want to know anything about the current mortgage world, especially in North Carolina, don't hesitate to ask him. He can help.

These guys know there stuff, and I would recommend them in a heartbeat. They local, not a chain, and give you personalized, quality service. Check them before you go to the franchised shops like Quick Signs or SignARama etc.

While my son and I were in Colorado we visited Estes Park, and after a long day of hiking, visiting shops, I wanted to just sit a while, and I didn't want to go, well, that other coffee shop. I found Kind Coffee and loved it. Behind the store is a beautiful patio next to a flowing river. Their service was very friendly, and I especially liked their Dark Roast. It is very favorable and full bodied, but without the normal bitter or burnt taste often accompanying bold coffees. Check it out if you are in Estes Park.
