In the last five years I’ve felt it was my responsibility to help you get better recordings.

Whether you’re trying to get the mic placement right to get a full sound or getting the best bang for your buck when you’re shopping for gear, I like to think I try to help you out with anything you need.

In the last year I’ve been doing a lot more actual recording work. Not mixing or editing or anything in the box like that.

Nope, actual miking up instruments and getting a great performance.

In addition to that I’ve moved into a new house and I’m in the process of setting up a brand new home studio (more details on that later).

So I’ve taken a lot of the lessons I’ve learned about recording in the last year and added them as video components to the brand new Recording Strategies Tutorial Package.

Not only do you also get a cool eBook filled with practical and easy to use recording tips that both Graham Cochrane and Joe Gilder have called:

“I like training that is simple and to the point. Bjorgvin has done just that with “Recording Strategies”. It’s pretty much a field guide to solid recordings in the home or project studio. Pick it up and you won’t be disappointed. ” -Graham Cochrane

“Rather than giving us a boring 400-page text book, Björgvin goes straight for the good stuff, with lots of tips and strategies you can implement right away.” -Joe Gilder

but I’ve also added some very useful videos designed to help you make the most of your gear to get great recordings.

I’m trying out a completely new and cool thing this year that you will be interested in.

I’m letting everyone into the studio as my band The Long and I Wait release each song.

We’re planning on releasing a new single every 6-8 weeks and we’ll document the whole process, from scratch guitar to final mastering limiter.

And best of all, you can follow along and become a part of it.

Alongside the production process we’ll be releasing videos every week teaching you the production techniques and thought processes we do throughout our music creation.

I’ve got a little gear purchase story for you today.

I’m in the market to upgrade some of my gear (read: I wanted new monitors…)

Because I just moved into my new studio space I thought I would spend some money to get new equipment as well.

My KRK 8″ monitors are getting old but I know them well so I thought I’d get a second set of ears.

After a lot of research I decided on the Yamaha HS series, the only question was whether I wanted the HS5s or the HS7s.

I’ve got something cool for you today.

In case you didn’t know, I’m doing regular videos about all the music we’re making in The Long Wait over at Patreon.

I’m doing this to keep myself accountable to release more songs while hopefully giving you some cool insights into recording and production.

And in turn, you can help me out by supporting us over at the Patreon page by pledging your support. The videos are all free on our Youtube page of course but this allows our die-hard fans to help support us while getting something in return.

Last week we released our first single of 2015, “Dispute.” You can check out our announcement about that below:
