This is a testament to Apple's popularity, but in the process has made their products (Macs specifically) popular enough to attract malware writers. Over 600,000 Macs have been infected, which accounts for 12% of Macs sold in Q4 2011, and more than 98% of overall affected computers were Macs - illustrating that this attack was targeted specifically at the Apple brand.
