Overheard at work: "WHAT?!?!? But jail is the best!" This is a national tragedy. Go directly to Mediocrity, America. Do not collect $200.

http://gizmodo.com/monopoly-is-getting-rid-of-jail-thats-some-bullshit-909031071
Say goodbye to one of the few remaining cornerstones of childhood. The Monopoly board as we know it is being supplemented with a new version Hasbro believes will appeal more to today's swaggy youth. Time to welcome in the new age of chaos—because Monopoly Empire is about to be coming to you totally jail-free.

This is every day: People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered. Love them anyway. If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Do good anyway. If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway. The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable. Be honest and frank anyway. The biggest person with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest person with the smallest mind. Think big anyway. What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway. People really need help but may attack if you help them. Help people anyway. Give the world the best you have and you might get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you’ve got anyway. - Anonymous

Tomorrow is my last day at +YouTube. I can't tell you how surreal it is to say that. I was very much "born at YouTube/Google"--it's the only full time job I've ever known. I can't even begin to express the depth of gratitude I feel to this place, and always more importantly, the people who propel it forward.

Over the past four years, I’ve witnessed audiences become fans and fans become family. Seen video migrate from TVs and films to laptops to mobile. I’ve seen shows become channels and channels finally become what they always were: the creator. And I’ve looked long and hard for the next leap that will entertain and move the world’s first generation that’s never been unconnected. I’ve looked for what Walt would do in 2014, if his pencil was code, built in a ticketless world. I’ve looked for the 90-page script, if there were no sequels and there were no finales. I’ve tried to find a place where fans can be family--even if only for three minutes. And I’ve come empty handed. Because some answers cannot be found--they must be delivered.

Tomorrow may be my last day at YouTube corporate, but it’s only the beginning of how I hope to support the most creative community in the world. Here's a little of how I'll remember YouTube.

I get really annoyed when people post stream of whatevers like this on any social network-it feels contrived, reductive, and self-absorbed (hello, Invisible Audience). At least this isn't Facebook. So to continue that reduction, I can't remember the last time I've been this moved:

The +YouTube community lost someone very important today. And I don't mean that in a small way I mean that in a way when you've never met someone but you know exactly what they mean to you: 13 year old Talia Joy Castellano. Talia was 7 when she was diagnosed with cancer. She wore a wig when most of her friends were learning how to braid. When she turned 11, she did what no 11 year old - needless to say, cancer patient -- would ever do: she showed the world her weakness, and started uploading to YouTube. She amassed nearly 800,000 subscribers for the last thing anyone associates with wig-wearing cancer patients: she created a beauty channel. Everyone watched her: CoverGirl, +Ellen DeGeneres , +Michelle Phan . She was the stranger we all knew.

There's been a lot of bull shit this week. Flagrant government interns; idiot JV colleagues politiking 24/7; bad verdicts for good people... And then we have people like Talia. Sort of makes you wonder why we're all so afraid of nothing and so tolerant of bull shit, when someone like this can upload her heart to the world and share every ounce of shoulder weight--even when it means her wings. Thanks for the collective kick in the ass, Talia. Lord knows we need reminding.

P.S.: This is irrational, but I'll pull one of your all nighters for you tonight

P.P.S: Cancer sucks.

The dim sum is good, but it's the pork buns that're out of this world. They probably earned this place its Michelin (next to its famous chef!). Generally, you can avoid the insane lines if you go early or very late lunch on a weekday. Either way, well worth the trip to the "world's cheapest Michelin."

The desserts, as always, trump everything else. Semifreddo and peanut butter mousse highly recommended.
