The other day I decided to cycle out around Red Rock to explore some of the unnamed streams in the area. I'm surprised as to how healthy and large many of them are.

Since Monday was a holiday I decided to go out for another cycling ride. This time I explored to see what Kerwin Creek and Sawmill Creek were like. Kerwin turned out to be a slightly turbid stream, while Sawmill Creek turned out to be a light tea coloured stream. Along the ride I had my rear derailleur break off at 80 km into the ride which ended the cycling adventure for the day. I was lucky to find some people who gave me a ride back to the city.

On Friday I went on my longest cycling adventure yet, to Barrett River in Lake Superior Provincial Park and back, 305.2 km. I also ascended the greatest elevation I've ever climbed in one ride, 2,504 m, climbing four category 4 hills and one category 3 hill.

Along the way I stopped at a few of the scenic lookouts and snapped some photos of the new wind farm at the top of the Montreal River Hill. In total I was out for more than 18 hours, more than 15 of which were spent cycling.

Yesterday I went on my second longest cycling adventure yet. I went to Alona Bay and back, 223.9 km. In total I ascended 1,440 metres. I love the creek at Alona Bay. It has such a great flow, even during the driest times of the year. I took a number of photos of the creek. This ride was 1.6 km longer than my ride to St. Ignace and back that I did earlier this year, but it wasn't as long as my ride to Tahquamenon Falls and back, 255.1 km.

A few days ago I went out on another adventure, this time to explore the waterfalls on Prince Creek as the stream comes down off the height of land before entering Lake Superior. It was an enjoyable time.

Yesterday I went on another cycling adventure, this time up the Tribag Mine Road all the way up to the creek that comes out of the mine. It was an enjoyable time and I was amazed by the number of ruffed grouse that I came across. I saw at least twelve of them. A photo of one is included in these photos.

I was impressed by the size of the waterfalls that I came across on the Batchawana River. I also visited some waterfalls on the stream that drains Tribag Mine. Some of the pools had interesting rock formations with holes and tunnels running through.

Most of the bridges were either barely standing and bypassed by a ford, or where completely washed out on the road.

On Saturday I went for a really long cycling adventure. I was out for nearly 19.5 hours. I cycled from the Sault up Mile 38 Road, up the Tilley Lakes Road, and continued all the way up past Batchawana Mountain and the Griffin Lakes. I then hid my bike in the forest and hiked down into the Batchawana River valley, found some large springs, waded across the Batchawana River, explored some waterfalls on an unnamed stream, found some more springs, drank from them, and hiked back up out of the Batchawana River valley.

Throughout the day I constantly ate raspberries since they were everywhere along the road. I also happened to come across three ruffed grouse and a bear during the journey.
