I'm happy that Google has updated their Google Street View imagery for Saint John, New Brunswick. The city is the oldest incorporated city in all of Canada, incorporated in 1785 (this formal title doesn't make it the oldest settlement in Canada though). The city is home to a wide selection of different buildings of Victorian era construction made predominantly from brick and wood. In this screenshot is a nice brick terrace with stone accenting along Germain Street which is loaded with similar Victorian constructions. I'm a fan of stoops and iron cresting. The stone door surrounds on the entrances to these two units is stunning. You can take a tour of this street yourself on Google Street View:

I've been working intensely on my Canadian population data this week and I've updated my Canadian article to include every urban centre with a population of more than 500 inhabitants in the year 1901. I'm still working on updating my observations section with 4.1 and 4.2 still unfinished. According to the data that I've collected Saint John was the 8th most populated urban centre in Canada with a population of 40,711. You can find my article here:

I like this old house that I found in Wilton, Ontario on Google Street View tonight during my usual exploration. I've been working on expanding my "The Population of Every Incorporated Urban Centre in Canada & Newfoundland in the Year 1901" article this weekend and I've added an interactive map of 532 urban centres:,-112.3800045,3429295m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!6m1!1sz54SYH0JArBA.kmbZTv6pPvZg

You can find the main article here:

I found this community through my community research. I love the finely cut stone quoining on the edges of this house. It's so solid looking.

I really like San Antonio, Texas due to its unique commercial and historical centre. There's an intimate wandering river covered by a tree canopy that goes through the centre that you're able to take a boat tour on. It's lined with stores, art galleries, and places to eat. The centre also has a lovely collection of old buildings made from a variety of building materials. The one in this post is a picturesque little stone cottage with a lovely wooden veranda.

In the year 1900 San Antonio was the 75th most populated urban centre out of the USA and Canada when combined with the centre totaling 53,321 inhabitants according to the population data that I've collected.

I really like how this street in Messina, Italy is designed with a large central median composed of two streetcar tracks flanked by hedges with trees. In the year 1900 Messina was the 189th most populated city in the world with 149,800 inhabitants according to the population data that I've collected and published:

I love this finely constructed stone building beside St. Dunstan's Basilica in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The Google Street View imagery looks quite lovely here.

Lately I've been working intensely on my population data articles. Over the past few days I've been updating my "The Population of Every Urban Centre in Canada & Newfoundland with more than 500 in the Year 1901" article and it now has more than 700 entries. Tomorrow I plan on updating the "Observations" section so don't refer to it yet if you wish to check it out:

In the year 1901 Charlottetown was the 18th largest urban centre in Canada with 12,080 inhabitants according to my article.

I like this brick Victorian mansion that I found in St. Joseph, Missouri via Google Street View before going to sleep tonight. In the year 1900 St. Joseph was the 36th most populated urban centre in North America with 102,979 inhabitants according to the population data that I've collected. This also made it the 278th most populated in the world according to my other population data article:

I adore this Second Empire styled courthouse I found in Fowler, Indiana while researching today. I love the finely cut stone dormers. It was built in 1874. This photo is public domain and via Wikipedia. I made a few enhancements and a crop to the original photo. Wiki article about this building:
