The happy intersection of my wife finding an old dress her aunt had made her + a tree pruning project yielded a Bill Gekas-inspired photograph of my daughter.

One of the best and easiest to understand analysis of the oil price drop that I've seen.  Good or bad depending on your perspective. +Vox

Great place for families to eat a relatively inexpensive and healthy meal. Something for everybody and very fresh with friendly staff. < $30 for a family with coupon.

We had been meaning to try Little Hen for a while as we live close by, and we recently had the occasion to dine there. The strip mall exterior is unfortunate, but inside you forget all about it. The interior is a combination of rustic and elegant that works. Our salad course was absolutely fantastic. The roasted beet salad with sorghum and a goat cheese fritter was perfect and inspired us to do several riffs off of it at home. Cocktails were creative and good. Not stellar, but certainly tasty and acceptable. The main course was where we lost the plot. We ordered the "big board" which had a Mexican / Latin theme, essentially a steak + shrimp fajitas plate. While the steak and shrimp were cooked well and delicious, the sides of roasted peppers and salsa verde really weren't enough to elevate the dish beyond a fajitas plate you could envision and a much less expensive restaurant. As well, the tortillas arrived stone cold and it took in inordinate amount of time to get a server's attention considering there were only three tables occupied when we were there. Even when they came back from being rewarmed, they still weren't hot. Desserts picked up where the salads left off - absolutely wonderful, and the coffee was well prepared, also. All in all, for the price point this restaurant is at, we would probably go ahead and drive to Raleigh for a special night, or even to Chef & Farmer in Kinston. I'd give a star each for the salads and desserts, but you really come to a restaurant like this for the entrees which really disappointed in our case. I'd certainly come back to the bar for a cocktail or dessert some time.

I camp with a group at Lake Powhatan every year for the Brewgrass Festival in Asheville and we love it. The campground staff are friendly, the facilities are very well maintained, and the campsites are well-spaced and beautiful. There is plenty of hiking, mountain biking (Bent Creek), and even the arboretum nearby. Downtown Asheville is only 15-20 minutes, Biltmore is even closer.

Looking for a day escape while visiting PdC with family, I was lucky enough to find Playa Boardsports. I hoped to take a SUP lesson with my wife and brother-in-law, but on the day of the lesson the conditions were very windy. Sergio and his team were extremely flexible in terms of offering to move the lesson to another day or changing to a kiteboarding lesson. Ultimately, my BIL and I decided to go with the kiteboarding lesson which was a blast. Despite the relatively short window of three hours, our instructor Nati crammed in tons of information and skill development. I'd highly recommend PB if you're in PdC looking to develop skills in boardsports, or even just a day of diversion.

We visited The Chelsea ~3:30pm for a very late lunch when there was only one other party in the restaurant. The service was very friendly and competent, the interior pleasant, and our food was very good. The pricing on the lunch menu was very reasonable, and the portions were just right.
