Yesterday the Red Cross held an Oahu wide Emergency Shelter Exercise in which they simiulated opening 20 plus shelters. I was the shelter manager at Castle High School. Bob Harter shared his extensive knowledge with us. HAM radio set up communications. We learned how to document shelter management. In the PM we met at McKinley to discuss the practical aspects of registering everyone who enters the shelter, dealing with people with special problems. We went to a class room designated for a shelter. Capacity 30 students. Trying to visulize 75 people in the room with windows and doors closed for 12 hrs. One wall composed of louvers which will blow out when the wind reaches 120 mph. How are people going to go to the toilet when they cannot go outside. How are you going to handle feces and urine.

Are you ready to take care of yourself and your family for 7 days? Where will you live till your home is livable again. Find out what you must do to be resilient in the face of the next big storm.

Most people who need extra cash take a second job. There is a better way. Create your home business. The internet has changed the business paradigm. Anyone can create an a work-from-anywhere business. All you need is an internet connection, a computer and a phone.

What do you think? What is better, a second job or a business of your own?
