The show was a blast, and meeting the talent afterwards at the reception was even better. Sorry you missed it, but the Durham show airs on 1/26 or so.

All too often runners are perplexed when they try to design their own warm up and cool down. We all face the difficult task of fitting our long run around the family's schedule or sneaking in a short one at lunch break. To ad...

Of course, sharing here is preaching to the choir. I need to go post this on Facebook.

What? Google+ Gets Some POSITIVE Mainstream Attention?!
So glad to see this after reading numerous articles on how Google+ is a barren wasteland and forced upon us against our will.

Matthew has written a great article for +The Huffington Post highlighting a number of the awesome features that puts Google+ head and shoulders above its peers. It's well worth a read with lots of great examples and lots of shout-outs!

Maybe the tides are turning and others are warming to G+? Time will tell...

Uber-original way to handle a telemarketing call. Kudos to him!

Today is a good day. I just had a call from a telemarketer. Did I yell and scream at them, you ask? Certainly not. Like a good IT administrator I put my skills to use for their benefit. Here's how the conversation went:

Computer: "Press 9 to not be contacted in the future. Press 4 to speak to someone about your mortgage issues"
<presses 4>
TM: "Hello, are you having problems paying your mortgage?"
Me: "Hi, this is the IT department. We intercepted your call as we detected a problem with you phone and need to fix it."
TM: "Oh... ok, well what do we need to do?"
Me: "We're going to need to fix the settings by pressing 4-6-8 and * at the same time"
TM: "Ok, nothing happened."
<alright, so he's not using a Polycom>
Me: "Are you using the new Polycom phones that we deployed?"
TM: "No, it's a Yealink"
Me: "Ok, I see. You haven't had the new Polycom phone deployed to your desk yet. Let me check our technical documentations for the Yealink."
<did a quick Google search, "yealink phone factory reset">
Me: "Alright, do you see an "OK" button on your phone?"
TM: "Yes I do"
Me: "Alright, you're going to press and hold that button for 10 seconds."
TM: "OK, pressing it now"
Me: "Perfect, let me know if you get a password request"
TM: "OK, nothing has popped up ye----"
<click>

That's right. I made a telemarketer unwittingly factory reset his phone which means he will be unable to make anymore calls until someone is able to reconfigure his phone and that will take at least an hour or longer if they can't do it right away!

A Mini Cooper D? Who knew that there was such a thing, and why can't I buy one in the US?

Banks are no longer just financing heavy industry. They are actually buying it up and inventing bigger, bolder and scarier scams than ever

Fun version of Let It Go - much better than the edited-for-time version she performed on the Oscars.

Called on Monday with a minor issue, the technician was at my house 8am the next morning. The repair was quick and easy, with only a standard service fee. Great service, professional, courteous technician. They're now my go-to for HVAC work.

Cute, charming patisserie that hasn't changed much over the years. Beautiful tiled floors and walls, high ceilings, and Edith Piaf playing dreamily in the background create an ambiance perfect for spending several hours enjoying a great conversation with friends or a book, all over a few delicious cappuccinos and croissants. The lunch sandwiches were delicious as well. We had a chicken salad and a salami sandwich on croissants and they were wonderful. A must-visit. Note: they close at 3pm.

Great food, excellent service, in a dive bar atmosphere. Okay local beer selection, but bottles only on everything. Even the salads went beyond iceberg and had good toppings, with homemade green goddess as well. Gumbo and jambalaya were both good. Well worth a visit.
