This is an observation based on very little, but I think it's worth pointing out.
Right wing religious nutbag American men and right wing religious nutbag Islamist men love pick up trucks.
Am I right or am I right?
In the comments from the most recent episode of Fully Charged there is quite abrasive criticism from, and I'm guessing here, a pickup truck driving gentleman who's a member of America's radical right.
His main gripe is about.... the speed of my driving.
Oh, and the fact that I need to 'grow a pair of balls.'
Yes, that's correct, there's something about the speed I drive (very slow according to him) that really gets his old goat.
He then describes his old pickup truck in dull detail.
It genuinely made me laugh and therefore falls into the category not of trolling, but of entertainment.
I always worry when I reply to people like this, it always entails a negative emotional experience and I agree, should be avoided.
But what about the joy, the bubble of laughter you feel as you type.
I've had fun responding to him and he's relatively articulate and intelligent.
And here's a positive side to such childish interactions, it makes me hone my arguments. This, surely, is what the cut and thrust of political debate is all about.
He's pulling out all the stops to argue his case and I have done likewise.
Agreed, neither of us would ever convince the other of our argument, but it clarifies the debate.
Big old pickup truck or new, potentially more sustainable technology.
