Retention is an interesting, and somewhat problematic, matter. By some accounts, in the very near future, the majority of workers will be contractors: hired for a project or a purpose, and moving on when the engagement is complete. There are a number of developments, from personal learning environments to badging, that may be more significant than traditional corporate training. We are all trying to figure out what the new paradigm will be.

Finally, the recognition training deserves!

Check out this great post on the link between employee training and retention   #training

We know y’all love a good list of Bloom’s Taxonomy tools. And the one we’re highlighting below isn’t only good – its growing, because it is crowdsourced by awesome teachers like you! Created by NJ Superintendent Scott Rocco, this list is chock-full of tons of different apps that can fill out just about every category of …

Beautiful interview! I'm looking forward to hearing Julian's session at mLearnCon.

TWIST Conversations: Julian Stodd on Learning in the Social Age

In this episode of TWIST Conversations David Kelly chats with Julian Stodd, Founder and Co-captain of SeaSalt Learning. They talk about how learning has changed in an age where social is embedded into everything we do, the increased focus on informal learning communities, and how mobile technologies are driving a shift in the ways we look at learning. Check it out here: http://bit.ly/1qeBTxe

It's an even slower road when faced with entrenched financial self-interest. Think about all the business models in the learning and development arena that are vulnerable to erosion by user-generated content, collaborative learning, empowerment of the informal, crowdsourcing, and other forms of "social learning."
What if you presented a tool or process to the c-suite, something that would (not could) increase revenue, improve morale and increase efficiency? No doubt they would leap at the opportunity right? Not quite... I recentl...

Absolutely Bill. I've been a bit Eisenhower-esque warning people of the Learning-Industrial Complex we are up against. Big money and marketing maintain traditional thinking/ practice.

The situation in the north of Nigeria and in the western part of Africa just gets worse every day. 96,000 more signatures needed on this petition by May 25 before there's even a faint chance President Obama will look at it.

Nigerian School Girls: Kidnapping, Forced Marriage, Slavery. #BringBackOurGirls

Two weeks ago 234 children were kidnapped from their school after being recalled to resit a physics exam.

Those children who have not yet been sold off into forced marriages, for the price of 12$, are being threatened with death unless a hefty government ransom is paid.

What is the international community doing to support the safe return of these school girls? As two weeks have already passed, it seems very little.

It's so sad that in today's day and age... just imagine if this had happened in London or New York.

What can you do?

1. Sign and share the petition.

2. Use the hashtag: #BringBackOurGirls

3. Say a prayer for the school children and their families.
