Starting Monday, May 4, Skyline Drive will be closed to all vehicle, bicycle, and foot traffic from mile 31.7 to mile 33 -- until the maintenance work on Marys Rock Tunnel is complete. The expected time frame for completion is up to 2 weeks, by May 18.

An alternate route has been established for anyone traveling from the North, which would be affected by this temporary closure. The alternate route map is available at: www.nps.gov/shen/alternate-routes.htm

If you have reservations for Skyland Resort, Big Meadows Lodge, or Lewis Mountain Cabins between May 4-18 and have questions about the alternate routing or your reservation, please contact our reservations department at 877-247-9261.

For questions regarding the status of the tunnel closure, please contact Shenandoah National Park Service at 540-999-3500, option 1, then option 1 again.

My family has been coming back to Big Meadows every Labor Day weekend for the past 25+ years. One of my favorite places on earth - the comfort this place provides is not just of body and mind, but of soul as well. The feel of a soft morning fog, the smell from the main lodge fireplace, the sound of your boots on the stone balcony - all of it puts you at ease. Extremely recommended to all - whether a couple looking to kindle/rekindle romance, or any family - regardless of size - wishing to make lasting memories that will endure through generations
