"If [God] does not support us, not one of us is safe from some gross sin. On the other hand, no possible degree of holiness or heroism which has ever been recorded of the greatest saints is beyond what He is determined to produce in every one of us in the end. The job will not be completed in this life: but He means to get us as far as possible before death." - C.S. Lewis, from "Mere Christianity" http://www.biblegateway.com/devotionals/cs-lewis-daily/2014/05/24

Truly God is an awesome God, He is awesomely ignorant, for creating all of creation and showing His might power and coming to set the captives free from what He said they were a slave to, which was sin, and for telling those who sinned against Him that they would be destroyed for doing such a thing and then telling them that whatever they asked in His name He would do for them but then He goes back on His own word and shows His inability as a creator to answer the most simple of requests by those who call themselves His children and will not supply them with the power to overcome. Instead, sin (Satan) has shown himself to be more powerful than the Creator and if this is true the God is a liar when He said that He not only gives power to overcome but that He also supplies a way of escape from even the temptation that may come our way. 1 Cor 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
TRULY GOD IS AWESOME.

My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
listening closely to wisdom
and directing your heart to understanding;
furthermore, if you call out to insight
and lift your voice to understanding,
if you seek it like silver
and search for it like hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and discover the knowledge of God. - Proverbs 2:1-5 (HCSB) http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+2%3A1-5&version=HCSB

"...if Christ is the Alpha and Omega of all our actions, then our lowliest actions are acceptable sacrifices; but if this principle is lacking in our lives, our most pompous services avail nothing: we are nothing but a spiritual idolater; we sacrifice to our own gain and make an idol of ourselves. We make ourselves, and not Christ, the end of our actions." - George Whitefield http://www.biblegateway.com/devotionals/bible-gateway-lent-devotional/2014/03/31

What’s the hardest act of forgiveness you’ve ever done? Here are some thoughts on forgiving the unforgivable, inspired by a story in Desmond Tutu's latest book. http://www.biblegateway.com/blog/2014/03/forgive-as-the-lord-forgave-you-desmond-tutu-and-impossible-forgiveness/

It is one of the greatest sins to cause a child to stumble. As we, every human, is a child of God. Does it not make sense that we are not to make anyones life harder then it already is? If U make a mistake doesn't it hold U back to be judged & persecuted for it?

Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand. - Romans 14:1-4 (NIV) http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+14%3A1-4&version=NIV

+Linda Stewart I agree. You should not tempt a recovering alcoholic unless they have fully recovered and can abstain.

He has blessed us in ways it we didn't know at first, but as the day's progress it reveals and unfolds before us. We are tools in the hands of a mighty God.

“Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”

But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 1:6-7 (NIV) http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jeremiah+1%3A6-7&version=NIV

Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle?
who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
He that walketh uprightly,
and worketh righteousness,
and speaketh the truth in his heart. - Psalm 15:1-2 (AKJV) http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+15%3A1-2&version=AKJV

Our final Lent email devotional begins this Sunday! "Knowing Him" is written by Mel Lawrenz of The Brook Network. It walks through the final week leading up to Easter Sunday--Jesus' trial, crucifixion, and resurrection--and explores the meaning of what Jesus did for us. sadly, many crucify Jesus afresh while treading on his blood, forsaking their own mercies.
