Celebrating Cretan art and food at the +Pallas Athena Boutique Hotel Athens #travelbloggersgreece
Sunday 15th March saw another Travel Bloggers Greece meet up to discuss and share ideas, how we can positively promote Greece and work together. This time we were invited again to Grectotel Pallas Athena in dowtown Athens, to experience the artwork of Alexandros Androulaks, a Cretan artist. Alexandros showed us his works of art – my particular favourite being entitled “Despite the Recession,” depicting Greeks dancing and having fun, despite what ...

I loved my adventurous wander around #Anafiotika in #Athens. It's amazing this little village within a city.  Read on:
There’s a part of Athens that had always eluded me.  I had never been able to find it!  Anafiotika is the neighbourhood, located under the northeastern side of the Acropolis Hill, part of historical Plaka. History The neighbourhood came into being in the reign of Otto of Greece – the Bavarian prince who in 1832, became the first modern King of Greece.  Construction workers were needed to work on the King’s Palace, and they came from the island of...

I had a great time discovering the #streetart in #Athens #Greece with Alternative Tours of Athens, courtesy of #TravelBloggersGreece There was even a brothel thrown in!
I highly recommend this tour
I knew Athens was a city with a lot of streetart – but I wasn’t prepared for quite how much until Alternative Tours of Athens took us under their wing and hosted us on Sunday, 8th February.  Representing Travel Bloggers Greece, myself, Table Salt and Passion for Greece were take on a comprehensive three hour tour of the neighbourhoods of Metaxourgeio and Gazi. Streetart is a contentious form of ‘art.’  Many see it as graffiti and indeed, it canno...

#Leros  island in the #Dodecanese  chain in #Greece    Not very well known, but so worth a visit!
As part of my research for the Rough Guide to the Greek Islands, one of the islands I visited in the Dodecanese chain was Leros. It takes about eleven hours to reach Leros by ferry from the Athens port of Piraeus, there are roughly 3 weekly, depending on the season.  But you can also fly here as there’s a tiny airport – there is a daily flight from Athens and three weekly from Kos & Rhodes. I was hosted by the gorgeous Nefeli Hotel in Krithoni, a...

An evenng of #winetasting at a new bar in #Athens #Greece called The Clumsies.  Housed in a 19th Century neoclassical building, with private party area - what more could you want?  Read on:
Nikos Bakoulis is the co-owner of The Clumsies – a newly opened, prestigious bar housed in an old 1919 neoclassical mansion, located in central Athens near Monisteraki and Panepistimio metro stations.  It’s actually hidden off a small square in Praxitelous street, number 30.
