Sensational Winter Celebrations at Lake House

Think misty days and starry nights, open fires and candlelight. Delicious feasts to bring people together.

It’s the most beautiful time of year in Daylesford – bare silver branches glow with iridescent green lichen and dew drops, white frost covers almost everything in the morning before trickling away as the gentle winter sun rises over Wombat Hill and gives way to clear sky days.

Guests arrive in warm woolen coats, scarves and gloves – rosy cheeked in anticipation for the day’s festivities.

Your wedding - getting it right

Initially we have a "chat" where we talk through your vision and thoughts about the Ceremony, and how I can make that happen. You get to meet me, and then decide if I'm the person to suit your day. Next time we have a 'meeting' where we further pin down your ideas, it's at this point we begin the paperwork!

I'm very happy for you to bring along your ideas for readings and music and am very happy to share my resources with you. Once we have finalised all the elements of your wedding, I write up draft ceremony for your editing, to ensure you are entirely comfortable and familiar with the content.

Our next meeting will be a rehearsal where the next pieces of paperwork are sorted out, and we ensure we're happy and confident with the ceremony plan.

On the actual day I will provide a quality sound system to ensure your guests hear everything clearly. From a legal perspective I will manage all the required paperwork, to ensure your marriage is registered correctly. I will be at the site 40 minutes before the ceremony to ensure all is in place, spend some time joking, soothing nerves and ensuring all is set for the ceremony!

Your Commitment Ceremony or Renewal of Vows... pretty much the same but without the paper work!

Bookings, fees and locations

Fees

Today, celebrant fees range from around $300 to more than $1000. My fees are in the middle range, usually around $600. This includes two or three face to face meetings (including the rehearsal) and an original ceremony written just for you with as many edits and rewrites as it takes to get it right. It also includes conducting the ceremony and completing of all paperwork in a timely manner.

Sometimes, couples wish to have what might be called a 'no frills' ceremony, perhaps with only themselves and their witnesses present. For such occasions I am prepared to talk with you to provide a professional, but more simple ceremony, at a reduced rate.

Locations

Your wedding your way... inside or out. I am happy to perform a ceremony at any location that suits you. As a long term resident of Daylesford, I can also help with suggestions. If it's outdoors and in Daylesford I'll help with a plan B in case of inclement weather. My fees include travelling up to 50kms, but I am happy to travel further.

When do I need to book?

As soon as possible! ! Bear in mind you are legally obligated to give a month's notice at least. You can also book 18 months in advance.

Half the fee is required to fully secure your booking, and is paid at the time we complete the first part of the paperwork.

Renewal of vows

Didn't get it exactly right the first time around? Want to make this a richer experience, knowing what you know now about love and life?

Now's your chance to say just what you want and need to say to the person you love, in the presence of the friends who have stuck around, or who couldn't make it the first time. A renewal of vows is an opportunity to re-state your declarations and pledges of love, dedication and commitment in a way which honours the truth and the history of your own unique union.

Commitment ceremonies

I respect anyone who decides to commit their heart to another. Straight or gay, religious or secular, new age or old age, your commitment belongs to you, and so should your ceremony. While same-sex marriage isn't presently legally recognised in Australia, commitment ceremonies publicly affirm and express your love for each other in your own words in the presence of your friends and family.

You can register your relationship with Births Deaths and Marriages – which gives you both proof of your commitment as well as a document that may be used for a variety of purposes. I can help you with this process too.

Whatever your plans – solemnly formal or riotously joyous – let me work with you to create the special occasion you envisage. Something musical? Quirky? A little off-beat? Let's talk.
