Hell is hot – more Deepweb, Darkweb, Darknet…

Over at the Norse DarkMatters blog I have an ongoing saga (down the rabbit hole) as I journey into the depths of the shadowy underbelly of the underground cybercrime ecosystem.

Part 2:  http://darkmatters.norsecorp.com/2015/06/24/exploring-the-dark-recesses-of-the-web/

196203 This is my ongoing saga (down the rabbit hole) as I journey into the depths of the shadowy underbelly of the underground cybercrime ecosystem. While the black markets are expanding, forums are also evolving. In Part 1 I questioned deviant mindsets, poked the Onion-pastebin, reminded everyone that there is great value in fresh stolen data and that data has an expiration date (decreasing in …

Excellent article - and I learned something new :)

#hack
There was a time when a reporter was called a hack. This term referred to their ability to hack away on a typewriter to create a story on a short deadline. Somewhere in the 1950's MIT's Railroad Club adopted the term when they saw a cool use of technology. Railroads help to build the world and ...

Today was not a giddyup day for me, not by a long shot. I felt like I had been bitten in the face by a horse, when I opened an email from a startup company that I've been contracting with for the past 52 months. I had just sent off invoice #108 when the reply from the company CEO arrived three minutes later, and I knew intuitively that the content was not going to be to my liking. The phone call...On the other end of the Smartphone line  — I was t...

I am so proud of the NJ Swedesboro-Woolwich school district that refused to pay ransom recently - they had BACK-UPS! Does anyone know what version of crypto-ransomware & how they were initially infected?

My recent blog post on ransomware is listed below and I just heard about the NJ attack today :)
Ransomware inspires fear in the hearts of those who have experienced its tenacious grip, and curiosity in the souls of those who haven't.

How to prevent leaked data and the next big breach

According to the 2015 Verizon Data Breach Investigations report there was more than 7 million vulnerabilities exploited and 2,122 confirmed data breaches in 2014 = it's time to "giddy up" on security :)

Data breaches can become a company’s worst nightmare and in 2015 it is quickly becoming the scourge of our times.

Governments and organizations need to decentralize sensitive information from vulnerable databases. That's how you prevent leakage.
