Exploring apps 8th -21st Feb  -

I am still trying out the apps -- some I have heard of, some I have used, and many are new to me!For making videos on Android, my favorite is PowerDirector. On thing to be aware of, when you're using apps or any technology in the classroom, however, is accessibility. If you have a blind student in the class, how are they going to participate? A Deaf student? Just important things to keep in mind.

Yes we have Bookshare too and I agree there are real benefits to being able use to text-to-speech and display options. The best eBooks IMO have highlighted read aloud options and interactivity. I like the iOS Collins Big Cat books for primary ages. Any other ideas about what makes an inclusive eBook and any app recommends?

Why another Ed Tech blog?
Most Ed Tech blogs seem to geared for K-12, but I work in higher education. So I'm creating this blog as a place to share tools, resources, and research that I think are worth sharing with the higher education community. Please email me at edtech @ bethcase...

Introduce yourself  -

Hello, everyone! I'm getting a late start due to a huge event we put on last week. I work at the University of Louisivlle in Louisville, KY as a Program Manager on the Instructional Design and Technology Team. Part of my responsibility is to keep up with emerging technology as it relates to learning, which includes apps. We have an event twice a year called "Appy Hour" where faculty share apps they've found useful, and we share some as well. I'm hoping to find some inspiration from this course!

Here's a bit more about Playdates: http://tech.ed.gov/stories/playdate/ . We are planning to try out this type of event at our university on 18th april and 13th May. I'm ever so interested to hear if anyone else has experience of Playdates, Teachmeets, Educamps or Unconferences?

After hiring this moving company, I was greatly disappointed. They showed up without enough boxes to pack my things but did move my bedroom suite & a loveseat that first day. Then it was 2 days later before they came back to finish the job. When I checked the house after they supposedly moved everything, I found clothing, plastic bins of items, chairs on the porch, book shelf with items still on it, Xmas decorations & my kitchen pantry had not been touched. After paying them over $2200, I had to get a friend to help move the rest of my belongs. Wouldn't recommend this company.
