Interview with Paper Engineer Yoojin Kim

Yoojin Kim​ is a Paper Engineer and Artist living in New Haven Connecticut. She studied Printmaking, Graphic Design and Book Binding. The brand new “Leaves: An Autumn Pop-Up Book” is her first published pop-up title and we had the opportunity to ask Yoojin some questions about her work and this wonderful book.

Leaves: An Autumn Pop-Up Book

Leaves, engineered by Yoojin Kim, proves that autumn is a perfect subject to make a colorful pop-up book about! The Go Wild pop-up card

This is one of the most delicate pop-ups we've ever seen! The Go Wild card is a group of bright neon colored flamingos that pop-up into an elegant and detailed composition. Beautiful!

The Go Wild pop-up card, created by paper engineer Yeray Pérez, was a 2017 Louie Award Finalist in the category "Birthday cards". Published by UWP Luxe.

Award winning pop-up cake

How about that? A real pop-up cake! And not just a simple pop-up cake but a perfect handmade replica of the Emerald City spread from Robert Sabuda’s Wizard of Oz pop-up book. A classic pop-up that every pop-up book collector would like to have as a birthday cake. Jennifer Moshier, the creator of this showstopper, won the first place at a local contest.

We had the opportunity to ask Jennifer some questions about how she came up with the idea and how she created this award winning pop-up cake.

Circus Zingaro: A Pop-up Book

In this review we are going to take a closer look at a very special and unique pop-up book titled Circus Zingaro – A Pop-Up Book. German Paper Engineer Tina Kraus, who engineered and illustrated Circus Zingaro, once started it as a project for her final exam.

Easy for us to say that this books NEEDS to be published but it’s true. We already got e-mails by fans of this book who requested a review. We’re just amazed that a pop-up book with so much attention hasn’t got published already.
