Last chapter of my first ebook Storytelling in street photography is finally published on my blog: Disrupt the harmony
Tension exists when the mind cannot see what it expects to see to fully understand the story. The idea of “tension” is anchored into the Gestalt theory – a theory explaining how the mind perceives and interprets relationships between elements in a spatial configuration. So what happens when you deprive the mind from seeing what’s expected? You force the mind to imagine the untold, the unseen. You request viewers to go beyond the fram...

Flinders University is engaging in a hunt for 1980s computers and computer games. If you have any stashed away, then please get in touch with them.

.. or at least tell as story or two!
Researchers hope to collect Australia's retro 80s video gaming history before it is lost to digital degradation.

The AP and British Movietone publish more than 1 million minutes of historic footage to YouTube
The Associated Press and British Movietone have announced the addition of more than 1 million minutes of digitized historic footage to YouTube. The AP says that this project represents the largest ever upload of historic news content to YouTube, and will serve as a 'visual encyclopedia' for witnessing some of the biggest moments in recent world history. A friend of mine recently turned me on to Hiatus Kaiyote, and I’m glad she did. The Australian neo-soul quartet has a buttery sound that’s fronted by singer/guitarist Nai Palm and supported by the fresh grooves of bassist Paul Bender. Here’s a great clip of the band playing through their song “Nakamarra” live on WNYC’s...

Emma Bordignon playing before +Benjamin Ceccato on Sunday night.
The evening was amazing, ~120 people braving our first cold snap to see an incredible performance.

Big thanks to Mark Macedone who did an amazing job on sound and lighting, Hape Kiddle for providing such a beautiful setting to perform at, and Pria at Blue Firefly Design (http://bluefirefly.com.au) for the beautiful posters/flyers/tireless support efforts.

I've had multiple sets of tyres replaced here, can't fault the service or the product - that's enough for a 4 star review. I know they also support local sporting organisations with donations, so they get the full 5 stars :)

I've accompanied my partner over the last 7-9 months on her multi-monthly visits to the Orthoclinic. It's a complicated jaw problem, and despite the difficulties and risks encountered over the period of treatment, Dr Madsen and all his staff were always extremely professional, while maintaining consideration and compassion for our situation. In our experience, this is not a balance that many health care professionals manage to strike so well (if at all). Highly recommended.

I've had 100+ devices repaired by Alltech - about half via a 3rd party, and half directly. Turnaround time for non-critical jobs is consistently 1-2 weeks including door to door post (NSW -> SA). The only time that really slipped was due to a parts supply issue from Motorola. Customer service is generally good, although the staff have to battle with devices being registered in multiple systems depending on whether the job is a warranty repair, non-warranty repair, or submitted as a warranty repair but not qualifying to be repaired under warranty. In the case of the supply chain issues mentioned above, it did require me making a follow up call after a month to find out where my devices got to - ideally with the quantity of devices in for repair, a courtesy call from Alltech would've been preferable. The repair work and QA processes seem to be good on the whole. My only niggle was with a batch of tablets returned with rubber handles mis-aligned and blocking the sim/sd card slots. I just returned them and they were fixed without a fuss. There's always room for improvement, but I've dealt with *much* worse repairers and these guys have been consistently good so I do recommend them.
