Troll Watch Face is the first most expensive Watch Face you can find, it might even cost more than your own Android Wear watch.

This is not a sequel of Void Watch Face.

When using the geofencing API of the Play Services, I receive frequent "fake" EXIT/ENTER events whereas the device is actually stationary in a geofence.

Has anyone here experienced the same problem?

(More details here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/30980859/android-geofencing-frequent-incorrect-exit-enter-events-when-device-is-actually)
I am working on an app that has geofencing features, using the Google Play Services APIs. It works pretty well in general, except I frequently receive "false positives", meaning I receive EXIT e...

By the way, 5 stars!

It's hard to take this rant seriously when the same author on the same day on the same site (I kid you not) was happy churning out the exact kind of presumable fluff that he's raging against - such as "Box Office: ‘Jurassic World’ to Become Fastest Film to Cross $1 Billion" and "Box Office: ‘Jurassic World’ Bites Into $102 Million, ‘Inside Out’ Scores With $91 Million"

[1] http://variety.com/2015/film/news/jurassic-world-box-office-1-billion-international-1201524803/ and

Box office reporting too often focuses on data and results that have nothing to do with whether or not a movie is a hit or a miss. One of the great absurdities of this type of coverage is that it i...

Fascinating. Dali couldn't have done better than some of these!

All of these images were computer generated!

For the last few weeks, Googlers have been obsessed with an internal visualization tool that Alexander Mordvintsev in our Zurich office created to help us visually understand some of the things happening inside our deep neural networks for computer vision.  The tool essentially starts with an image, runs the model forwards and backwards, and then makes adjustments to the starting image in weird and magnificent ways.

In the same way that when you are staring at clouds, and you can convince yourself that some part of the cloud looks like a head, maybe with some ears, and then your mind starts to reinforce that opinion, by seeing even more parts that fit that story ("wow, now I even see arms and a leg!"), the optimization process works in a similar manner, reinforcing what it thinks it is seeing.  Since the model is very deep, we can tap into it at various levels and get all kinds of remarkable effects.

Alexander, +Christopher Olah, and Mike Tyka wrote up a very nice blog post describing how this works:

http://googleresearch.blogspot.com/2015/06/inceptionism-going-deeper-into-neural.html

There's also a bigger album of more of these pictures linked from the blog post:

I just picked a few of my favorites here.

Hey +Google Maps

I don't want a fucking splash screen when launching Maps. This is fucking bullshit and here's why :

- This is slow. Or at least, it seems slow. 'cause yes, only games that (down)load a lot of shit use a splash screen. By the way, after the splashcreen, Maps is still loading. So what the fuck are you doing while displaying the splashcreen? Nothing?
- Maps is as normal on my phone as the phone composer. Are you going to put a splashcreen on that too?
- What value does it give to your users? A nice logo and all? Get rid of what doesn't give any value.

More copyright maximalist insanity. Maybe it would be a good thing if the EU did implode as it seems to have been taken over by corporations and lobbyists entirely.

Wowowow, a new logical density?!?!
Right between hdpi and xhdpi.

With the recent update that rolled out, some devices have been changed from being "hdpi" to a new density called "280". You may notice slight layout differences with your existing apps, and you will need to take this into consideration. Here is a photo showing every available Android Wear device, and stats about the display, such as dimensions, densityDpi value, actual physical DPI, and size of display. I'm getting a nice diagram with all this information added to the documentation, but thought I would post this here until that is ready.

I still dream of a generifed version of the the Android API. How beautiful would that be instead of the current casting horror?

MyService s = getSystemService(MyService.class);

And AFAIK it would be API compliant.
