Shouldn't be an issue for me considering how many alternatives are out there.

The sad truth about Ag-gag laws.

Who's the REAL Terrorist?
When it comes to animals and the people who fight for them, the legal system never ceases to baffle me. In the Unite States, what I do could even be considered terrorism under the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act. How is it that the perpetrators of actions that would be beyond criminal if performed on a cat or dog have ample legal protection while those attempting to stop it are vilified and imprisoned? This comic by the wonderful Vegan Sidekick captures the insanity perfectly in two panels. Find out more about the criminalization of animal activism here: http://buff.ly/1e3fBKF

Recently did a Tiki bar crawl across the bay area, and this was definitely the best place we went to. It had all the quality and ambiance of Smuggler's Cove, but without all the obnoxious drunk hipsters. The music is spot on, and the decor really makes it feel like you're outside on a tropical getaway. The drinks were great, with much care given to quality ingredients and presentation. Of all the tiki bars in the area this is the I plan to spend the most time at.

Any fan of Walt Disney or the history of the Disney Company needs to put this destination at the top of their to-do list. Even those with just a passing interest will find the interactive displays interesting and engaging.

Nice little beach bar right in the middle of downtown. The staff really cared about tiki and the history behind the cocktails they serve. They were attentive and friendly. The drinks were good, but the only food served was from the italian restaurant downstairs which didn't really mesh with the tiki vibe. The music played was a mix of exotica and Elvis, with some other beachy tunes thrown in as well.

I love Ike's. It's so great to have really good sandwiches with phenomenal vegan options, but also things on the menu that meat eaters can drool over.

We sat in the lounge and had some drinks and snacks while looking out at the great view of the marina. The decor is really well done. It feels very much like you're eating in the home of a wealthy sea explorer. The food was quite good, but they could really benefit from some more vegetarian options. The drinks were also very good and it was fun to read through the menu. The staff was friendly and attentive but didn't seem very knowledgeable about the drinks. We also over heard one waitress describe the restaurants trademark menehune to another customer as "some sort of hawaiian voodoo doll." I feel like that kind of basic inaccuracy is indicative of a lack of interest in the company's history. Other than that I thought it was a great experience.

Amazing. The drinks were outstanding (nearly all rum-based, but still creative and unique). You can tell the owners and employees really care about what they're doing. The decor is absolutely fantastic. It really feels like you're in the hull of an old pirate ship. If I didn't know better I'd say I felt like I was actually swaying with the motion of the ocean... though that was probably just the effects of the rum. The music played was appropriately exotic and relaxing. The only problem I have with Smuggler's Cove is that it's arguably too popular for it's own good. There was a line outside, which took us about a half our to get through, and once inside it was hard to really relax because of how noisy the other patrons were. Still giving it 5 stars because the worst thing about it is that it's so popular. ;-)

The decor and atmosphere are the only redeeming quality of this once great tiki lounge. I'm glad that it's still around as a landmark, but I do wish they would embrace their heritage more by eliminating the terrible music played by the talented band and replacing it with more "island" appropriate music. The drink quality was also sub-par and they didn't even offer signature souvenir mugs. Just standard off-the-shelf kind of stuff. The food was expensive and basic chinese take-out quality (with the exception of the Taro dumplings which were still expensive but at leas they were unique and tasty). I'm glad I went here to experience the legend... I just wish it was still as legendary as it once was.
