Sharp rocks are surrounded by the silky mist of waves washing up against them in this bright yellow and orange sunset seen from the shore of Portland Island.

As beautiful of a sight that this was, the one thing I remember specifically about taking this photo is that I was literally covered in a cloud of mosquitoes.  There were millions of them, at least.  So many in fact that I could almost swear the beat of their wings would affect the local weather patterns.

Red Fox, Jasper National Park, Alberta

I always seem to find these guys in the winter, and they always seem to be oblivious to my presence.

A narrow waterway on the coast of British Columbia leads to Princess Louisa Inlet and Chatterbox Falls at its endpoint.

The water here is very deep, and the experiences are very rich.

City of Rocks, South Central Idaho

Not far from the Utah border, City of Rocks is a destination frequented by climbers and those seeking a refuge from the busy life.

Single exposure, 5D Mark II.

Cheers,
Ben

I quite literally stumbled upon this barn while looking for a composition in the middle of the night with lightning striking all around me.  It was a surreal experience.

Have a great day folks!

Exploring Dago Gulch, Southeast Oregon

Southeast Oregon is remote.  Very remote.  What I mean by that is that you can find yourself over 100 miles from any fuel source quite easily.  However, the reward is that you can experience an area of the country that is totally untainted by overwhelming tourism.  Places like the Alvord Desert, Steens Mountain, and Leslie/Dago Gulch are rarely visited.

Many would not enjoy the prospect of driving 80+ miles on pothole-ridden gravel and dirt roads, but to me, it's exciting.  It's a chance to have some adventure, to explore the unknown and rarely seen.

A mountain goat descends a hill along the Hidden Lake trail in the Logan Pass area of Glacier National Park, Montana.

This was taken a few minutes apart from when I had witnessed a group of people attempting to feed some of the nearby goats some grasses by hand and get nearly inches away from them.  While the goats in Glacier are fairly used to being in close proximity with people, it is never a good idea to attempt to feed them or approach them.

We're going to do something a little different today. This past weekend I had the opportunity to capture several people in Glacier acting like fools around wildlife.

Glacier is not a petting zoo. These animals are wild, and stressing them can lead to the injury or death of you or others. This was taken on the Hidden Lake Overlook trail this weekend.

See what these guys are doing? Don't do this.
