Our residents cheered on their favorite competitors at @SunriverBrewing K-9 Keg Pull! We also took advantage of the beautiful #CentralOregon weather and got ice cream at Goody's Chocolate Factory. It was a wonderful day! #FrontierCulture.

Our residents explored their artistic side using techniques from the Alzheimer's Association Memories in the Making art program. The goal of this program is to allow individuals to express themselves through the creative process of reminiscing and encouraging the use of art as a means of communication. Roger drew cartoon characters, while Peg and Juanita enjoyed painting bright flowers. We have such talented residents!

Our #ALZAboutTown campaign intends to raise awareness for Alzheimer's/dementia and to reinforce connections between individuals living with dementia and their communities. Joan Hornecker hosted her own television show, 'Woman's World' in Medford, Oregon in the 1960s and '70s. Her target audience was primarily women, although due to its local nature, many tuned into find out about local people, issues and events. 'Woman's World' featured Hollywood stars, political figures and religious leaders, including the The Fifth Dimension singing group and Academy Award winner, Cliff Robertson. Thank you to Michelle Bauer Photography LLC for capturing these moments and Central Oregon Daily News for sharing Joan's story!

The Montessori approach to dementia care focuses on what the individual can do rather than what they can't do. Meaningful activities allow our residents to maintain independence and stay actively involved in the community. Win, Joan, Cheryl, and other residents of Mt. Bachelor Memory Care volunteer monthly at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Oregon as one of their Tidy Teams. This is what community is all about!

Sometimes you've gotta dance like nobody is watching. Residents and staff of Mt. Bachelor Memory Care enjoyed singing and dancing along to some of their favorite classic oldies during a performance by local musician Bobby Smith. Betty said, "Just wait until you see me do the jitterbug!"
