I got a lot of really great books at SPX this year, but of the ones I've read so far, this is my favorite: Hilda and the Midnight Giant by Luke Pearson, published by Nobrow Press. Charming story, drop-dead gorgeous cartooning--what's not to love?!

Yeah, the whole thing is really beautiful. Interestingly, the line art is not quite's maybe a deep blue/purple on most pages. It's very subtle, though. I didn't even notice it for the first few pages.
It's an old classic painters rule, to create your own dark colors and black, in the old world you were not really allowed to use black
Having seen some of it close up while +Ben Towle was checking it out, I have to say this is one pretty book.
Love the design of what I can only assume is THE giant. I can't wait to find a copy! Thanks for sharing!
Yep, that's the giant! One part of the packaging that's not apparent from the pics is the trim size. It's that big, European "Tintin-size" which really makes for a nice presentation.
