This is big news in the Arkansas River Valley and well beyond! It'll be interesting to see if the press generated will bring additional demand to the rafting outfitters who offer trips through Browns Canyon.
A new National Monument in Colorado - Browns Canyon! If you haven't rafted this incredible section of whitewater then you have to give it a shot this summer - the rapids are family-friendly and the views are, well, worthy of national monument status. Reserve your Browns Canyon trip here: http://www.raftecho.com/trip/browns-canyon/

If you're local to the Canon City area you should definitely check out the hike up Fremont Peak near the Royal Gorge! Beautiful views the whole way up and down. Thanks to my lovely wife who captured these photos yesterday evening while on the hike.

Spent some time this morning with friends of the Nature and Raptor Center of Pueblo. What a great organization! Along with a lot to see and do at their base on the Arkansas River, they offer lots of educational programs to get people outside enjoying and respecting nature. Check them out here: http://natureandraptor.org/
