Takedown appeals  -

Could we please get rid of this bogus "Ouachita Parish Public Library" portal? It's in a residential neighborhood and isn't a library location (I can confirm that via beno@oplib.org if needed).

I reported it last July and it's still on the game grid.

Thanks for writing to us. It looks like we have recently removed this Portal.

Dear +8-Bit Philosophy — if you say "this begs the question" when you mean "this raises the question", I can't take the "philosophy" part of your name very seriously. Begging the question means employing circular reasoning.

Uh. What? +YouTube, that's an odd message. Variable interpolation seems to be getting skipped.

If you are talking about the anomaly live stream, possibly for Tokyo but it hasn't been announced yet.

A friend of a friend wants to play Ingress but the Google Play store says it's "not available in your country". He's in Montenegro. Does anyone know what's going on with that? Does he need to visit another country to download it?

+Etienne Botek no, we are talking about a legit, checksum matching binaries from apkmirror/other sources. I'm not defending the idiots who use modified APKs, sideloading those will ultimately lead to a ban.

If "person's" (person+POSS) is acceptable, surely "whose" (who+POSS) is. Other than that, fantastic!

The irony is that Beethoven's 5th Symphony plays over the credits "Movie and Song by Nina Paley". Surely Beethoven and the composer/orchestra should be credited as well?

Oh wow. Petra Haden has turned a Trent Reznor track into something that at times sounds like the library in downtown Berlin (in WINGS OF DESIRE). Ethereal, elusive, and gorgeous.

Story
Tagline
Organizing information to make it useful to people. You say data warehousing, I say librarianship. You say potato, I say "could I have yuca con mojo criollo instead?".
Introduction
I believe in humanity: our indwelling capacity for good, our insatiable desire to make ourselves known to one another, our coruscating passion for knowledge, our ability to handle the truth, our capacity for learning from really dumb mistakes, and our capacity for making them.

I believe in humor as the universal solvent of ignorance, grief, and fear.

I believe in public libraries.

I believe in using intellectual property rights to establish a sustaining wellspring for the creative endeavors of others; I believe in the Creative Commons license.

I believe in putting final punctuation outside the quotes unless it was present in the original.

I believe in the Oxford comma.

I don't believe in rigid gender lines, violence as national economic policy, or any particular religion (though I'm congenial to many).

It took us three tries to find an employee who knew where we'd find luggage, but eventually we did, and at $30 for a carryon-sized bag, it was worth the trouble. Still, when Target's app can tell you which aisle number an item is on in any given store, Walmart needs to step up their mobile game.

Food is plentiful and the prices aren't too bad. The vegetable plate is one of the best bargains on the menu -- four sides plus a salad and a croissant.

The entrance is so cramped with merchandise that I feel claustrophobic just pushing a wheelchair through to the hostess stand. I always think I'm about to knock something over (and half the time I do). The food is good and reasonably priced, though.

The parking lot is cramped, and there's usually someone driving through to play Pokemon Go without really paying attention. But there *is* a frequently lured Pokestop here, right next to a Sprint store that spawns a lot on its own. So if I've been that driver, I apologize. But do be careful in this parking lot!

We came here for Sunday brunch and I had an amazing special order: loaded fries with scrambled eggs added. The kitchen forgot to remove the bacon but it wasn't much of an issue for me. I do wish it were easier to get from the handicap parking in the gravel lot into the restaurant; the crossgrade on the sidewalk directly in front of the building is so bad you could tip sideways, because it's also a ramp for three other spaces. It would be much better to lose those three spaces and make the sidewalk level. As it is, I'd advise cautiously wheeling down into the road and only going back up onto the sidewalk at the northernmost point.

Sidewalk issues and falling tree litter make this park less accessible to people who use wheelchairs. It's still beautiful, but you kinda have to have working legs to really get the most out of it.

Our cats have always been happy at Lefebvre (you can say "luh fevv", rhymes with Bev). There's a cat waiting area and they have specifically cat-certified vets.
