Would any of the cyclists among you be nutty enough to do this?
Free rider Geoff Gulevich has posted a helmetcam video of one of his descents, a squirm-inducing two minutes that sees even the rider himself question whether the route is possible to traverse without injury.

"Keep Portland Weird" - and you can't get much weirder than Darth Vader, wearing a kilt, riding a unicycle, and playing the bagpipes.

But the Unipiper's been doing that for a few years. How can he top that? How about flaming bagpipes?!

Oh dear...
After transforming the face of British education with failing free schools, substandard academies and a "neo-victorian" primary school curriculum, the saviour of British education Michael Gove now believes he has found the answer to attracting more young entrepreneurs to London: All the “hot sex” on offer.

Someone had fun with the caption to that photo: "File image - the Education Secretary's actual expression at the time of the remark cannot be verified."

Oh yes!

We need more crosswalks with this sign, please! Traffic sign in a small Norwegian village makes people do the Monty Python Silly Walk.

As political soundbites go, Dave has come up with some of the strangest ones in a single speech:
.
“Jesus invented the Big Society 2,000 years ago. I just want to see more of it.”
.
“If there are things that are stopping you from doing more, think of me as a giant Dyno-Rod.”
.
“The Bible tells us to bear one another’s burdens. After the day I’ve had, I’m definitely looking for volunteers.”
David Cameron has claimed divine inspiration was at work when it came to drafting a key concept for Conservative Party policy.

To have a "Big Society" you need people both available and prepared to do things for others and that portion of the population who used to it (Women at home with children  and young retirees) are being driven very much into employment for increasingly longer periods. Throw on top of that council 'Jobsworths', Health and Safety (real and presumes) and vetting and it's not gonna happen on the scale that's needed and that's a shame.

Introducing Comic Neue - a redesigned version of the world's most hated typeface - this one's been released into the public domain:

"The squashed, wonky, and weird glyphs of Comic Sans have been beaten into shape while maintaining the honesty that made Comic Sans so popular."

Microsoft may have ended offering support on Windows XP for most users, but the UK government has purchased a one year extension on support as many computers (e.g. 85% of the 800,000 in the NHS) are still running it...

+Amy Lear Valve announcing they're going to be releasing a Steam client for Linux, as well as a Steam OS (based on Debian) which will run on the Steam Machine console they're developing. Apparently Steam OS will include a web browser and the Steam client, but if you want a file manager you'll have to install it yourself via GNOME.

If you've been to Wikipedia recently, yes, they have changed their fonts.

First and second level headings are now serif (so have the little tails / ticks at the end of each stroke), using Linux Libertine, Georgia, or Times.
Article text is still sans-serif but will use Arimo, Liberation Sans, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica or Arial.

Line height is 1.6 (so a slightly bigger gap between lines), the text colour is now a dark grey (#252525) as apparently pure black on white can cause problems for those with dyslexia.

Top level headings are 1.8em, second level 1.5em, third level 1.17em.
