One of the most photographed lakes in the world is Lake Louise in Alberta Canada. On my most recent trip to Banff, I spent most mornings photographing the lake. This is my take on such an iconic location. How It Was Made
I took this image well before sunrise. Looking at the scene with the naked eye, it was very dull and lifeless. As dark as it was, it made it very difficult to even compose the image. The camera set to a 30 second exposure will pick up all the available light in the scene, and produce an image that is significantly different than what I saw in person. As photographers we have to remind ourselves to think like the camera sees. If we don't we may miss many opportunities to make great images.
A couple days later at this same location I saw +Varina Patel
and +Jay Patel
trying to capture a sunrise. They were busy working so I didn't introduce myself, but it's always cool seeing someone you admire in the field.
