After readings in Italian and Russian, ESA astronaut +Samantha Cristoforetti was keen to do a reading in English - after suggestions from her followers on social media, she chose to read Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, by Iza Trapini - show it to your kids tonight for a special good night from space at bedtime!

I'm not crazy on the idea of not being in control of my vehicle. Looks very pretty, though.

Couple more years and we could see these walking among us in public.  This only needs a modest boost in speed to really become practical for most people. Will be fascinating to see how humans ultimately decide to interact with this technology!

Ok. I see your point and generally agree with it. But... isnt it better than nothing? I mean if the reason is distracted drivers anyway, then finding ways to get attention back where it needs to be seems like the right thing to do.

"Rather than a demonstration of how easily fooled we are, optical illusions like this one are examples of the brain’s mysterious and irreplaceable abilities. It interprets its environment with a sophistication that exceeds our ability to measure and reconstruct physical phenomena."
What you see is only what you see.

Much interesting. The way color works is our eyes are built to detect radiated energy within a certain range of frequencies. Part of that detection is gauging what frequency this radiated energy is, and in doing so, we perceive it as different shades and colors of light. The frequencies that lie outside our ability to detect with our eyes have no color to us. It is pretty safe to say the ones we can see have no color as well, outside what our eyes read and our brains interpret into images. To that end, color is probably entirely a human construct (in the sense that we know it) because it is known as color only through our eyes.

Behold the power of the lowly Link and how it has and continues to shape our world

Good article on the relentless commercialisation of the very concept of linking.  References a lot of the relevant pioneers including Ted Nelson.  To paraphrase Ted, the web has become the thing we were trying to prevent.
The buzz about connections in mobile apps obscures the links’ potential: to create networks of knowledge and share power…

"Anyone, no matter their level or role, is allowed to give notes to the director about a particular film."

How Disney Pixar stays at the creative cutting edge:
What's the secret to unlocking the creativity hidden inside your daily work, and giving every great idea a chance? Harvard professor Linda Hill, co-author of "Collective Genius," has studied some of the world's most creative companies to come up with a set of tools and tactics to keep great ideas flowing — from everyone in the company, not just the designated "creatives."
