The GCN Show is here! It's been a bumper week for cycling as we build towards the first Grand Tour of the year, and, does road racing really cost an amateur cyclist £25,500 (just under $40,000) per year?

We're not so sure and we'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Story
Introduction
I was born in Townsville sometime during the 80's and was quickly whisked away to Tennant Creek to spend my first year of life in a caravan stuck in the middle of Australias' arid centre.

After this short stint in the desert I was moved back to Townsville where I was to spend my life until 1999 when I decided to move down to the Sunshine Coast where I have lived since.

My education consists of 12 years of Primary and High schooling, 3 years of tertiary and another 4 years of apprenticeships.

I have worked since leaving high school with a few breaks for further education and periods of on-the-job training.

I still have close ties with my friends in Townsville while my immediate family resides with me on the Sunshine coast.

That's it, boring bio done.

A fantastic 40 odd kilometres of well made and maintained trails with something for everyone. A must do for any travelling MTB'er.

The facilities are showing their age and is in need of maintenance/refreshing. Otherwise friendly staff and very much a standard roadhouse. Stayed overnight in a camper van.

Facilities are well appointed and maintained. Management is friendly and accommodating. Prices are reasonable. The view is fantastic and the park attracts good travelers.

Purchased a fridge from them and had it delivered (for free) and the old fridge taken away. Competitively priced, good service, no problems.

We came for the mountain biking and this is the best accommodation for it - they have a MTB wash bay! Friendly staff, well appointed facilities and quiet. We stayed in a powered site.

Camped overnight for a mountain bike event. Nice area and the waterhole looks great. Facilities are about average for a scout camp.

The lower trails are excellent and I enjoyed the climb up 'Calibre' and coming down 'Highlife' to 'Roller Cat'. The upper trails not so good condition when I rode them, very dry and dusty. A bit of tender loving care and rain will bring them back up to greatness I bet. I only rode parts of McKenzie Frenzy (DH track) and it's good from what I can tell. There appears to be b-lines around the nastier bits but I'd still walk it first.
