Frank Miller's Holy Terror...
Why did I read this? I knew it was gonna be bad. I knew it was some sort o' demented wish fulfillment/revenge fantasy depicting a costumed crime fighter basically just wasting "Islamic terrorists." It was even worse than I could possibly have expected though.
It's not just a bad story with no self-awareness, sense of nuance, artistic value, or sanity. Nope. It's downright painful
to read. At times the art is so jumbled you can't tell what's going on. At others, you can't even tell what order to read the panels in.
I don't know what happened to Frank Miller but I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Honestly, I ain't even angry at him. I just sorta feel sorry for him. There was a time when the man had talent and insight. There was a time when he could write classic work like The Dark Knight Returns
. Those times are gone now apparently.
Do not read this book. Not even to see how bad it is. Don't be tempted. You will regret it. Even if the thematic content is not offensive to you, the thought that the two main characters were originally intended to be Batman and Catwoman will have you wanting to vomit from the sheer level of awful and out-of-character behavior between the two.
I'm just gonna end by asking you to take a moment of silence for Frank Miller's sanity, reason, and artistic ability. #FrankMiller #HolyTerror #HolyPileOfUnmitigatedGarbage
